Master's Voice has slowly but surely made a name for themselves over the past few years with their undeniable energy on stage. The group recently made a few changes and released the highly anticipated By Request album last fall.
Q & A with Master's Voice
Master's Voice had a big year in 2004 both professionally and personally. Fill everyone in on what has happened with the group!
The biggest news is that Master's Voice went from having five members, to four, and now down to the three of us left. We love it. So far, John Tidwell has gotten married, which was a huge miracle, and now Mark Ledbetter and his wife, Autumn, are having a child. It's been a busy year. Also notable is that for the second year in a row, we have sang over 115 times. We also hired a booking agent - Eastern Sky Promotions - Seth and Melissa Carney.
What's next up to bat for Masters Voice? In other words, what do you see in the immediate future for Masters Voice?
In the immediate future, well, we are waiting on the Lord. We would love for Him to allow us to do this full-time, but patience is the "key." We aspire to break the 140 mark for bookings this year. We are praying about exactly who to go to for our next album, so we are excited about that. We are, once again, gathering songs. Hopefully, by May, we will have something new.
Tell us about your new project. What made you decide to do old standards? How did you decide which songs to record?
Our newest project By Request was a blast! You can't go wrong making a project with everyone else's best songs, ha! Honestly, we kept a mental tab on requests that people had made throughout the years. Some specific requests that we remembered were the requests for "At The Cross," "House of Gold," and " Glory Road ." Some of the songs were more of a tribute to the groups and/or performers that we respect. We already have ideas of By Request...again , as many have come up to us and expressed their disapproval because we did not put the song they requested on the album.
What are the long term plans for Masters Voice. What's the future hold for Masters Voice?
We, once again, are praying about that. It is such a miracle to find a group of guys who share the same passions, interests, and specific callings. I am sure that we are open to whatever God has in store. We are praying that He continues to open doors, and close some as well. I know that is about as vague an answer as you can get, but our heads are still spinning due to all the transitions we made this year. I wish we could sing all day every day. Does the Lord have that for us? Pray for us that we are sensitive enough, and patient enough to wait on the Lord.....bold enough to take the initiative and walk through doors, and the discernment to know the difference.
Be sure and mark your calendars now for the 6 th Annual SGN Fan Festival. Master's Voice will be performing on Saturday night, July 30, 2005!
