Kirk Talley - Clear to See
![]() Clear For All To See You could feel it when you got there, the excitement was in the air. Everyone was looking forward to hearing some tremendous music and there was curiosity there too. Kirk Talley would be there, how was he? What would he say? What would he sing? Some even wondered how would this crowd react? "Thorough It All" and then the trademark whistling on "Just a Closer Walk with Thee" reminded us of how much we had enjoyed his music through the years. "Always Enough" and Kirk began to share how this song was written. Debra had asked him to write a song for those who were in positions of leadership or had ministries where others looked up to them yet they had problems or situations in their own lives that they need help, understanding and/or counseling with, yet they felt they could not talk with anyone. No one but Kirk knew that was exactly where he was living at the time. "Serenaded by Angels" is a must at any Kirk concert and he didn't disappoint us. "I'd Rather be Saved than Anything I know" was sung with such feeling and power. Followed by a Phil Cross song "When God Says No"....He says yes to so much more, really seemed to sum up the night. Kirk's pastor Tommy Patterson was scheduled to speak just before the break. He came to the stage and before preaching led everyone in “When God Dips His Love In My Heart” singing the verses and having Kirk, Anthony and the audience join him on the chorus. After telling us we needed a ‘little more soul' in our singing we did the second verse. This song led perfectly into the message of love and forgiveness, Pastor Patterson brought.
Despite the hair, Kirk and Anthony had the boys join them for 'The Quartet' on "Glory Road" and brought the house down! The spontaneity that is the trademark of The Trio, was alive and well as The Quartet was formed and they sang and had fun on stage. An encore was necessary before the crowd was ready to allow that to end. Someone at the back requested "Beulah Land" and Kirk sang it after acknowledging it wasn't a song he knew real well. The program ended with Kirk singing "I Know Him" and being joined on the chorus by all the groups. "I know Him but best of all He knows me " certainly was the right song to end the concert on! After a few more songs, they took up the offering. Anthony was going to play for that. He got up and went to the keyboard. To say this was a far cry than what Anthony is used to playing is the understatement of the year. A tiny little keyboard on somewhat shaky legs, I wondered if it would still be standing when he finished. I talked with Kirk about that after the service. He talked about his need to be there at the church for the discipleship and fellowship it provides. So he knows even if the 'circuit' welcomes him back, he must have the Wednesday nights there and he needs to limit
the time away or set aside some weeks that he doesn't do Sunday dates so that he can be in his church. I have someone tell me a few weeks ago, 'it doesn't matter what he does or says I won't ever listen to him again'. All I can say to that is Gal.1:10 - "Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted". Kirk is not denying or trying to explain away any wrong he has done. He is attempting to allow God to use him in whatever way God chooses. Written by DeeAnn Bailey Reader Comments
Lev 18:22- Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
Lev 20:13- If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. Jude 1:7- Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. definition of going after strange flesh- departing from the course of nature, and going after that which is unnatural.

Hey val, you need to read the rest of the bible.
Judge no that ye be not judged. For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. He that is without sin, cast the first stone. If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrightousness.

"Judge NOT that ye be not judged"
Val, do you sin? Are you perfect? Do you have faults? Have you ever ministered to anyone? Why do you judge the splinter in someone elses eye when you have a log in your own eye?

I just want to thank Jesus Christ for his forgiveness and unfailing love. What a wonderful savior. I have been a Christian for over 50 years and I have found a real secret on how to be a forgiving Christian. When you pray, ask God to reveal anything in your own heart that is displeasing to Him. You will be surprised what He will tell you. We have soooooo many things that are not what they should be. Whatever we do, do we do it for the Glory of God or do we do it for our own glory. It is so easy to look at someone else's sin and not our own. It will be a full time job to keep ourself where God would have us then we cannot condemn others just pray for them and ask God to reveal in their lives what He wants them to do and pray that we will love these people. There is a whole world dying and going to hell and we want to spend our time judging ...... let God do that. We are not capable because we cannot look on the heart. PLEASE, if you are a born again believer in Jesus Christ, know that the days are growing shorter until His return and we have to stand and give an account of our every action and thought so we need to make sure that our hearts are right and pray for our fellow man. God Bless each and everyone of you.

I agree 100% with val the Bible is not a book of contradictions God still destroid sodom that is why they are called sodomites Kirk Tally was not born this way Read Romans 1:21-32 vs 22 says Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools. God has gave kirk over to a reprobate mind this is not my oppinion this is what God said and one more thing vs:32 says Who knowing the judgment of God,that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.Did he have pleasure? sure he did untill he got caught why didn't he come foward sooner?because he liked what he was doing.I know God forgives But what we are talking about hear is that kirk just neads to get saved.

I am so proud of Kirk. From day one that this was announced I started praying for Kirk and asking God to give him strength to get through this and that Kirk would be able to return to Southern Gospel Music. There are so many people quick to judge, but these people need to clean out from under their own door steps before they try to do someone else's. I have always heard that Christian's are the first people in the world to shoot their wounded and we do. We should not judge anyone. If God has set Kirk free then he is free indeed. I have never gave up on Kirk and I will stand by him until we get to Heaven. There is no way Kirk could have blessed so many people and wrote so many annointed songs if he did not have God with him! So Kirk, keep on singing and never ever give up! There are Christians behind you and I an one of them and proud to tell the world so!

Thank you for the article. It was a great update and one that was handled gracefully and with a light shining to remind us that God gives us hope in all things. God's grace is sufficent and it is for Kirk too! I am reminded of a song that says, "Don't shoot the wounded, they need you more then ever. Don't shoot the wounded no matter what it is they've done. Don't shoot the wounded; someday YOU might be one!" Well I believe that. I am excited to see what God has in store. Thanks Kirk for being transparent to be used for the glory of God.

I wonder if some of these high profile people are sorry and want to change or don't want to lose their meal tickets. (Swaggart,Bakkers) God does want and accepts our repentance toward Him. I question why they want to go on as before. I think people use Christians because they have a forgiving nature. I think people use the idea- God forgave me you must too. A person found guilty or charged with child sexual abuse use the church to get around kids again. God I have sinned against You- You forgave me and so must others. Pass the plate$$$ We have consequence for our behavior. If we rob and ask forgivness we get it. We may still go to jail! People who want men want men-they can control it but that is what they want.Men who want kids want kids. Tears don't mean anything without a real change-deep down-realize that we have wounded Christ and His sheep. I think a few months off is not the answer. Sack cloth and ashes maybe.

I am amused that, in the second to last paragraph of her Sept. 1, 2004 SGN article about Kirk Talley, titled “Clear to See”, Dee Ann Bailey accidentally sited Galatians 1:10 as the reference for her quote from Galatians 6:1. In Talley’s defense, Bailey said: “All I can say to that is Gal.1:10 - ‘Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted’.” Ironically, Galatians 1:10 (RSV) says, “Am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still pleasing men, I should not be a servant of Christ.” What a fitting verse for Kirk Talley. When Kirk can tell the public that he is absolutely not a homosexual (I.e., doesn’t literally want the pleasure of men) – when he can Testify about his defeat of, and victory over, homosexuality, then I will gladly share his Testimony with others and support his ministry and music. As of now, Kirk’s Testimony is a Confession, not a Testimony. A Christian Testimony is an account of salvation and victory over sin. Kirk has a serious problem with self control. Have you seen the picture of Kirk holding his KKK poster? Check it out at kirktalley.com, photos, "Kirk’s Knoxville Krew [KKK] Event", the last picture at the bottom. Oh, by the way, just a few verses following the quote Bailey tried to site in defense of Kirk, Galatians 6:7, 8a says “Do not be deceived; God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption.” I’m amazed at how many people want to excuse Kirk’s condition by comparing it to other peoples battles with such things as gluttony, as if no sin is worse than another. Yes, yes, sin is sin, Jesus clearly taught that. But, Jesus said, “Go and sin no more.” If Kirk seriously wants to defeat homosexual urges, and doesn’t want to be perceived as being a gay (celibate?) Christian, he should make a public statement that homosexuality is a sin and that he is not gay. Name it and claim! As long as he doesn’t physically do anything homosexual, he shouldn’t give the devil glory by publicly confessing that he thinks about it. Resist the Devil and he will flee! Oh, but I guess all this is too harsh for one Christian to tell another Christian. Why is our society so easily offended by, and hostile to, people who advocate strong moral values and personal accountability, maturity, and self control?
