MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The 5th Annual SouthernGospelNews Convention & Talent Contest went off with a bang recently. The convention was held July 28 – July 31, 2004. Many Southern Spin Entertainment artists participated in the event.

Wednesday night kicked off with Sunday Edition performing on the evening concert, as well as the group performing Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. On Saturday evening, the group performed a full set. The group debuted new material from their latest album, Dry Dusty Day…, which was released that week. The first single, “This Well”, was extremely well received.

Thursday night featured a performance by HisSong. HisSong lit up the stage as their energy and passion was unmatched by many of the top groups performing around the nation today. Their current single, “Three Words, Three Nails, Three Days” received a standing ovation.

Saturday morning featured a talent contest for the convention, and two Southern Spin Entertainment artists took place in the competition. Dave Grim performed with a full piece band to the delight of the judges and crowd. OneWay Quartet performed an original number from their current album, Eternal. OneWay Quartet ended up placing third in the Group Competition.

The first place winner of the Soloist Competition, Kymberly Wooten, signed an exclusive multi-year agreement with Southern Spin Entertainment later that weekend.

On Saturday evening, the crowd was blessed by the energetic performance of Master’s Voice, now a trio. The group just released their latest album that week, entitled By Request, a collection of hymns, church standards, and southern gospel classics.

Closing out the evening was the unmistakable sounds of The Imperials. The group performed a nice mix of traditional and progressive songs, including “Arise My Love”, which earned the group a standing ovation that night. The group is currently working on a new album.
