Nashville, TN – Cathedral Records announced today that it has signed an exclusive recording agreement with legendary quartet, the Florida Boys.
For more than 50 years, America has known the Florida Boys. From the stage, the radio, the record player, and even the television, these performers have entertained and inspired for more than five decades. During that time, the Florida Boys have recorded on many labels, sharing their gift of music with millions of listeners across multiple generations.
Now, Cathedral Records is proud to join these labels by welcoming the Florida Boys to its family of artists, including Gold City, the Signature Sound Quartet, and the John Hagee Family. This new recording agreement with the Nashville-based Cathedral Records paves the way for the Florida Boys' first Cathedral release this Summer, Something To Remember, followed shortly by the second release, already in the works.
Something to Remember is a nostalgic look at the way the Florida Boys recorded many years ago. Accompanied by only piano, these veteran performers bring back the excitement and musicality of many of gospel music’s greatest standards. According to Cathedral Records President, Todd Payne, Something to Remember is classic Florida Boys, right down to the last cut.
“Following the Cathedrals as I grew up,” Payne remembers, “I always noticed that the songs performed around the piano were always most popular.” This point is one that is shared by many in the Southern Gospel community who have more than a few years’ experiences to draw from, including the Florida Boys. For this reason, the group felt it appropriate to go back to their roots and “sing a few from the old books.”
Russ Farrar, legal counsel for the Florida Boys is pleased with the new agreement, citing both parties commitment to traditional Southern Gospel music. "The Florida Boys," states Farrar, "have an outstanding history of recording music that is true to their Gospel roots. Cathedral Records shares this goal. I believe this relationship will result in some of the best Florida Boys music to date."
Something to Remember, as well as the yet untitled follow-up project will both be available by the summer of 2004.
