Southern Gospel Promoters Association Holds Meetings at NQC
The Southern Gospel Promoters Association (SGPA) was in full force at the National Quartet Convention held recently in Louisville, Kentucky. Promoters from all across the nation were present to discuss how to better improve attendance, advertising strategies and promoter/agency/artist relationships.
The SGPA welcomed 24 new members to the organization, which makes the SGPA 86 promoters strong representing over 2/3 of the United States. They are also working on new and improved methods to make Southern Gospel Music one of the most attended concert arenas in the gospel music field.
The SGPA was pleased to make a donation to the Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame. A check for $2000.00 was presented to Jerry Kirksey/Associate Publisher-C.O.O. of the Singing News Magazine.
Also, the SGPA named J.G. Whitfield as the “Promoter of the Twentieth Century”. Mr. Whitfield and his wife, Hazel, were on hand to accept this prestigious award.
Anyone interested in becoming a part of the SGPA can call President Jim Hefner at (256)891-2930 or visit the web site at http://www.sgpromos.org
