Due to circumstances beyond the control of SGN SCOOPS MAGAZINE and LAMP MUSIC GROUP, the date and venue of The Diamond Awards Program has been changed. This prestigous awards event will still be taking place during the week of the National Quartet Convention.
The program has been moved to Friday, September 12th at 10:00 AM at the EXECUTIVE WEST HOTEL in Louisville, Kentucky. This beautiful hotel is located at the entrance to the Kentucky Fair & Exposition Center. Many showcases are held there every year.
When asked about the change, publisher of SGN SCOOPS MAGAZINE and EZINE said
this: "Although this change did take us by surprise, we believe that it will work out for the best. The original venue limited attendance to industry personel only. With this new venue, the fans of Southern Gospel will also be able to attend. The fans are the lifeblood of this industry, and they are the ones who voted and made The Diamond Awards possible. We are excited to be able to invite them to attend the 2003 Diamond Awards program, which is being sponsored by LAMP MUSIC GROUP."
The 2003 Diamond Awards will also include the prestigous Lou Hildreth Award. This is an Industry Award, and is not voted on by the fans of Southern Gospel. The Lou Hildreth Award is presented to non-performers in recognition of their extraordinary contribution to the Southern Gospel music industry. Past recipients of this award have been: Lou Hildreth; Joe Moscheo, who was Chairman Of The Board of the Gospel Music Association; and in 2000, it was presented to the distinguished Dottie Leonard Miller, founder of New Day Christian Distributors and Daywind Music Group, one of Southern Gospel's leading record and publishing companies.
The co-emcees of this event will be singer/songwriter Mark Bishop and singer/songwriter Kyla Rowland. The presenters who have already been announced are: Paul Heil, Lou Hildreth, Dottie Rambo, Amy Roth, Randy Miller, Gary Wilson, Garry Cohn, former editor of the Gospel Voice Magazine, The Talley Trio and The Freemans. More presenters are to be announced at a later time. In addition, the exciting duet of YOUNG HARMONY, Johnathan and Ginger Bond, will be special guest performers at The Diamond Awards Program.
