Diamond Award Finalists Announced

The ballots are in and counted! Listed below are the results from the Semi-Final voting in the 2003 DIAMOND AWARDS . Winners will be announced at the National Quartet Convention during the 2003 DIAMOND AWARDS on Thursday, September 11, 2003.

The 2003 SGN SCOOPS DIAMOND AWARDS PRESENTATION CEREMONY,which is sponsored this year by LAMP MUSIC GROUP, will take place on Thursday, September 11th in the WEST WING of the Kentucky Fair and Expo Center in Louisville, KY, during NQC Week. THIS EXCITING PROGRAM WILL START AT 11:00 AM.

The co-emcees of this event will be singer/songwriter Mark Bishop and singer/songwriter Kyla Rowland. The presenters who have already been announced are: Paul Heil, Lou Hildreth, Dottie Rambo, Amy Roth, Randy Miller, Gary Wilson, Garry Cohn, former editor of the Gospel Voice Magazine, and The Talley Trio. More presenters are to be announced at a later time.

The Top Five (5) nominees in each category have been decided for the Final Ballot for The 2003 Diamond Awards. The Final Ballot will soon be made available on the SGN SCOOPS WEBSITE. Once again, a downloadable ballot as well as an online ballot will be made available

Listed below are the Top 5 nominees for the 2003 Diamond Awards.

J.D. SUMNER LIVING LEGEND AWARD: Ben Speer, Eva Mae LeFevre, Naomi Sego Reader, Mark Trammell, and Lily Weatherford.

GROUP OF THE YEAR: The Perrys, Hoskins Family, The Gaither Vocal Band,The Crabb Family, and The Hoppers

TRIO OF THE YEAR: Karen Peck & New River, Greater Vision, The Greenes, HisSong, and The Martins.

SOLOIST OF THE YEAR: Ivan Parker, Kirk Talley, Ernie Haase, Tony Gore, and Janet Paschal.

MALE VOCALIST OF THE YEAR: Gerald Wolfe, Jason Crabb, Guy Penrod, David Phelps, and Jonathan Wilburn

FEMALE VOCALIST OF THE YEAR: Karen Peck Gooch, Sheri Easter, Lauren Talley, Angie Hoskins Aldridge, and Libby Perry Stuffle.

SONGWRITER OF THE YEAR: Gerald Crabb, Phil Cross, Rodney Griffin, Kyla Rowland, and Kirk Talley.

INSTRUMENTALIST OF THE YEAR: Roger Bennett, Anthony Burger, Sonya Isaacs, Aaron Crabb, and Garry Jones.

SUNRISE AWARD: HisSong, The Mark Trammell Trio, The Dunaways, The Signature Sound Quartet, and The Son's Family.

VIDEO OF THE YEAR: At Home & On Stage With The Talley Trio, Live At The Palace - Greater Vision & Legacy Five, Having A Good Time - The Trio, The Very Best Of Gold City, and Magnify - The Freemans.
