It has been a little over two years since I first joined Eastern Sky. God has allowed us to travel to many places and minister for Him. We have seen souls saved and lives changed, and this has ministered to us as well. I am looking forward to seeing what great things God has in the future for this trio.
A few months ago, I was elected to be the youth minister at my home church, Emmanuel General Baptist in Eldorado, Illinois. God has been blessing us well beyond my expectations. Our youth, and especially our teens, are very excited about seeing the church grow and inviting new people. We see new faces almost every week. I can see God working among our youth in a mighty way.
As exciting as all this is, it has forced me to face a tough decision: Where does God want me? I can honestly say that I have wrestled with both options for several months. After much prayer and soul searching, God has revealed to me that it is time for me to depart from Eastern Sky and devote my energy and time to the youth ministry. This has not been an easy decision by any means, but I know this is what God wants. One way it has been confirmed to me is by the way God has moved among our youth in the last few weeks. The teen class has doubled in size in a 2-3 week time span. They are all drawing closer to Him, and are very excited about making the group grow. Another confirmation is how quickly a replacement singer has been found. Caleb Cowan from Clay, Kentucky will be singing the baritone part for Eastern Sky. Caleb is a fine 16 year old Christian young man with a talent that goes well beyond his years. I know Caleb personally, and I can assure you that he will be an asset to the ministry of this trio.
In closing, I want everyone to know that Kasey, Rindy and Caleb are some of my closest friends, and they have my full support as they continue in their ministry. Please continue to support them and pray for them as you have in the past, and help them welcome Caleb into the group. In addition, please remember me and my church in your prayers as we continue to move forward in the direction that God leads us. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter, and may God bless you.
