(Dallas, TX) Early Saturday morning, December 28th, the Lord took Bob Toney home to Glory. Bob was taken to the hospital on Thursday, December 20th, with an internal infection. The infection was the result of a weakened immune system compounded by dehydration. Bob's system was weakened after undergoing steroid treatments required after his recent brain surgery. Bob Toney was one of the founding members of the Toney Brothers Quartet in 1955 and had the privilege of singing on the first National Quartet Convention in Memphis, TN at the Ellis Auditorium in 1957. Bob was the last original member who still traveled every mile with the group until his recent surgery in November. His leadership, lifestyle, and testimony can be summed up by his own words when told about his brain tumor, "I'm either going to go home with my family or I get to go home with the Lord. Either way it's a win-win situation for me."
In Bob's 47 years of music ministry he has recorded over 50 albums and sang in 38 states across the country. There will be a time of family visitation at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, TX, on Monday December 30th from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The funeral will be held on December 31st at the First Baptist Church of Allen in Allen, TX.
