Set Apart - “Old Time Religion”
Independent Label
While I am not a big Bluegrass Gospel fan, I do like it if it is performed really well. That is exactly what you get when you listen to this CD by Set Apart. The best I can describe the whole CD is that they have a bit of the old Bishops bluegrass sound. At least it’s really close to that.
The opening song is the title song, and I really like the way it gets your attention. You can really hear the Standup Bass on the track, sort of keeping the time, with the rest of the instruments chiming in.
As is usually the case in Bluegrass music, the harmony is very close, and you could hear the instruments well, but they weren’t predominant.
If you like Bluegrass, then you will love this album.
Songs that I really liked included “Trust And Serve Jesus”, and “I Wanna See Jesus”
