An open letter from Shane Dunlap

Dear friends,

I am writing to let each one of you know how much I have appreciated your love and support over the years. As many of you know, I have accepted the lead singer position with "The Signature Sound Quartet" effective at the first of the year. N'Harmony has always been a part of me and I will always hold a special place in my heart for the group that my father and I started over 10 years ago.

It was an extremely tough decision for me to make, but after my wife Carrie and I prayed about it, and the way that everything happened from the time Ernie and Garry called me until the time I accepted the job, I felt a peace knowing that this is what is best for my family and I at this point in my our lives. I will miss traveling with N'Harmony because it is all that I have ever known, but I know that God has opened the door and we are excited about our future with "The Signature Sound Quartet."

As for the future of N'Harmony, many people have asked what will happen. As I mentioned before, I will be with the guys until December 31. After that, Craig O'Dell (baritone) and Kevin Waters (bass) will assume the co-owner/manager positions. I truly believe in each of the guys in the group and I know that they are going to be great. In the mean time, they will be looking for a replacement for the lead singer position. I'm concerned so many people in Gospel Music seem to be somewhat unstable in groups. While I realize your tenure has been years with 'NHarmony, many more groups are even more unstable.

Tony Gore recently went solo. While I think Tony is a great singer, I can't have the same affinity with him while he's singing "with tracks" instead of with Jason Runnels and the others he was singing with as a trio.

I'm concerned that people are going to get the feeling that the Southern Gospel industry is about people or perhaps about the money rather than Christ being the focal point.

I have no business trying to say anything about another's prayer and communication with God. I pray you're following God's will.

I have begun to pull back from concerts because of the movement of people all over the place from group to group.
