Naomi Sego Speaks Out On Current Sego’s Name Usage
SGN has just learned that Naomi Sego has addressed some of the statements made by former member Kasey Kemp to the Christian Voice Magazine. Sego told CVM that she would issue a full, official public statement regarding her ministry and future plans shortly. Reader Comments
Cliff,
I agree with you on the fact that Naomi is a sweet lady, she has stayed at my home many times when has she been in the area. I'm not saying she is lying, I'm not defending either party. I'm also not saying that people shouldn't help Naomi right now. No, Naomi should not turn the other cheek and be treated with disrespect. What I am saying is, even in this matter, IMO We do not have the right as Christians to slam other Christians when we believe they have screwed up. The bible does very plainly speak about if someone in the church has sinned let him go with another person and talk to the person, if the person does not confess the sin then it is to be brought in front of the church, I really don't think that Kacey is a member of your local church. Its not any of our business, this is between Naomi, Kacey and Judson. I believe the bible also mentions Not to provoke to anger. Yes, God will judge all and I think it should be left up to Him to do, and if you think its necessary to "provoke" Kacey, as an elder or overseer that should be between you God and Kacey not a message board, which seems to be where you are wanting to let everyone know how you feel about him. This is something I know we will never agree on. But I know that Kacey needs the prayers not the rude comments and name calling that some have done!

Let me set one thing straight. I'm friends with both parties. I am NOT or WILL NOT cast judgment on either party. I do not know the whole truth. My comments have been strictly to say "Something aint right somewhere" The name calling, rude comments and judging really need to stop! Both parties would benefit a lot more if people would talk to God instead of other people on these message boards! So, this will be my last post on this subject.

It is interesting that some people write in and chastise others for supporting Naomi and slip in their own critical or hurtful statement and then add a thinly veiled spiritual disguise to make it sound like they are the spiritual giants in this matter. I believe that most people who have known and loved Naomi for 50 or more years are running to her support because she is a wonderful, Godly woman in our industry and she has been hurt. I believe that is a spiritual and Godly action and I'm proud of everyone who has written in support of Naomi. God Bless You all.

Copyright infringement? Wrong word. You can't copyright a name. Trademark is the correct word.
There have been other battles on ownership of names, and trying to take them. This is another good example that groups should trademark their name. Slightly costly, but situations like this could be avoided and/or fought more easily if a trademarked name was in place. HT

I will lend my support in behalf of Naomi and the Sego Brothers & Naomi Heritage. Someone using the name Sego
or Sego's and not "blood" relatives is totally riduculous and un-called for. If a group can not be successful on their own, without taking advantage of an ICON name as the Sego's to give them a boost...then they need to find another profession of Music!. Naomi, is a Heroine of mine as well as all of the orginal Sego Brothers & Naomi including some of their early personel changes of the likes of Randy Taylor and a couple of others.. Naomi..I Love you and the kids...Stay strong...Prayers are with you!!!. "Riding The Range for Jesus". Tommy D.

I am standing in support of Naomi!!. The Sego
Brothers & Naomi, are an ICON in my opinion as a group. Naomi, is also one in her own right!!. The Sego Brothers & Naomi were a "Class Group" and even when they had a few personel changes such as Randy Taylor and a couple of others in the 70's..beyond that after James and W.R. passed on..Naomi carried on the group and the others that came along within the group were just "hired" singers...a couple were very good and went on to bigger Ministries for themselves. If a group cannot be successful with their on particular name and have to hope their success and stature will be taking on a name such as Sego unless they are "blood" kin Sego's, then they need to find another music profession...Not Southern Gospel!!. Naomi, is a Heroine of mine and I hold her in deep respect and admiration and her remaining family..Naomi, I love you and your Family...just hang in there...be tough...God will take care of this as HE is in control of every situation as you well know...My Prayers are with You..... Unbelievable! Naomi, who is a Southern Gospel icon, doesn't deserve any of this. I had the priviledge to sing with them last summer and she was every bit of the Christian woman that I imagined. Judson was brand new with them. My prayers go out to Naomi for I know she must be tremendously hurt being told not to use the name she's used for over 50 years! I hope this is not true and just a misunderstanding on everyones part.

JT. It would appear to me that Naomi is indeed fighting her own battle. I'm curious as to where you find she isn't. I know the parties involved. The one that was with Naomi the longest of the two told me as well that she had given him rights to her name after she would retire. I myself have been taken by him. Lost money to him. He won't return my calls about the issue. So I have no problem believing what has happened here. It's sad. But I'm not surprised. That said, I think all parties involved need our prayers for various reasons.
