A "tribute" is an expression of honor, respect, or high regard. So, it's no coincidence the name Tribute Quartet so aptly fits these men and their mission to honor the music, singers, and Spiritual messages that have so definitively shaped gospel music down through the years ![]() Bob's ultimate dream was to move to Jim Bakker’s Morningside Community. We visited there a few weeks ago, and we stopped and prayed there on the grounds that God would grant Bob’s wish. But instead, God took him to a better place. He will be missed ![]() Whether it be the piano player acting crazy, or one of us trying to make the other one laugh, it's always interesting. We've been able to bridge the generation gap with a mixture of good songs, and humor to keep old and young people coming to see us. ![]() When Grannie Bishop wasn't able to come hear us sing at church because of her health, we recorded an album so she could still hear her son and grandsons sing. It started mushrooming from there ![]() Two writers for SGN give tribute to one of gospel music's most treasured and prolific songwriters. Dottie is home with the Lord but her legacy lives on in every heart and life that have been touched by her songs. Click on an image to change Feature Article

![]() It seems to me that if you ask the so-called “average” gospel music fan why he or she enjoys this music so much, their answer often would cite the aspect of quartet singing that spotlights either a particularly high tenor or a particularly low bass singer, or both
I'm getting older and the more involved I get in Gospel Music, the less I am impressed with all the new things happening. After a while I realized that it isn't just Gospel Music that I feel that way about, I don't get all gooey over brand new cars anymore either
REAL Southern Gospel is the greatest music this side of heaven…yet we keep trying to change it. We are allowing the Bizarro World infiltrators to make it progressive, or country, or contemporary, or heaven knows what next
The family was always doing whatever they could to stretch a dollar and that meant that there wasn’t much money to spend on gifts or things that might be called frivolous. In the midst of this money crunch, Jim’s dad still wanted to do nice things for his wif
Thank you so much for your continued prayer for Priscilla McGruder! She is continuing her chemotherapy treatments! She appreciates all of your prayers and concern! We are trusting God for another miracle!
I would like to address the issue of how to sing high tones in the most effective manner to keep your voice working well even when you get to your late 60's and beyond. Tenors and Sopranos can really use this information, also others can use it to sing in the high part of their registers
Why do we feel that we have to throw the baby out with the bathwater? Why is it that something old seems to only have value when it has the word “antique” preceding it? Why do many of our worship leaders believe you must choose between either/or in song selection?
One of the Gaithers’ most meaningful and widely used songs was written in 1970. It was born out of hardship and trial, as are many of the most lasting of our beloved hymns and gospel songs.

Mike Upright It’s an odd combination when you think about it…a carnival and Southern Gospel Music. It’s like serving black-eyed peas with a Porterhouse. You could do it, but why? Still it happens summer after summer somewhere across the country Gus is one of the most sought after back up vocalists in Nashville. He is also known for his engineering, editing, production and mixing abilities. He owns the Vox Box recording studio which is primarily a studio where people record their vocals We all fight the same devil, and if he can get us to mess up he is happy, however, I know the giver of life, grace and redemption and his name is Jesus and that gives me strength to stand back up and pick up my armor and continue on this journey We were blessed to have been invited to participate in the barbarshop harmony society convention held in Nashville. They asked us to sing a 15 minute segment during the gospel portion of their convention. We didn't realize that we had so many friends who were barbarshoppers!! In a world of mass confusion and defeat there is a cry for something more, something real. Today even the sinner is longing for an answer from something other than the end of a needle, the bottom of a bottle We decided to look for a way to reach out to the young people so what better to do that than give away free stuff and call it "The Give". Why such a classy title? LOL! Well when you are giving something away, why waste words? Just call it what "it" is
