The Gabbards – A Legacy of Faith

Label – Cross and Crown Music
Producer – Dave Wilcox
Websitehttp://www.thegabbards.org

This fine family group has been regulars on the gospel charts for the past several years. It’s easy to understand why when you listen to their new recording, “A Legacy of Faith”. Butler, Ky should be proud to be represented by the Gabbards.

It’s good to hear some of the groups reaching back and pulling out some of the songs from the pen of Andrae Crouch. The Gabbards have chosen his composition, “I Don’t Know Why”, to kick off this project. This song has a lot of soul and is a nice way to ease into the recording. They rock the house with “Miracle with My Name on It”.

“His Blood Gets You There”, written by Keith Gabbard, is a beautiful ballad and features some nice harmonies. “Running the Race” is a very commercial song from the pen of Lana Chandler. This song reminds me of the type of song that put Janet Paschal and Karen Wheaton on the map. I think that radio would love this song.

“In My Weakest Moments” is another pretty ballad featuring Kathy Gabbard Saunders. She is also featured on the next cut, their latest radio release, “Written in Red”. This song written by Rob Gabbard should do well for the group.

“Big Mo” Milton Ostrander gives us the next song featuring Gary Gabbard. After two ballads in a row, this was a nice pick me up. Adrian takes the lead on a pretty ballad written by Sylvia Green, “Tell Me”.

“Praise the Lord, Hallelujah, Amen” gets your foot stompin’ and features Adrian. In his bio on their website, he lists Kenny Hinson as his favorite singer and you hear that influence on this song. “We Need the Lord” is a worshipful song from the pen of Jason Clark.

“Thank You Jesus” is another hand clapper featuring Kathy. She has a nice, soulful voice. The group is at their best when she is on the lead vocals. Their harmonies seem to be closer when they stack this way. They close the project out with a country flavored, mid tempo song, featuring the next generation of the Gabbards. These kids can sing!

Overall, this was a nice project. I thought that it bogged down a little in the middle with ballads but I enjoyed it just the same. Check this one out.

The Gabbards latest CD is excellent. I'm happy to see others enjoy it too. The best part is being with them live in a service or concert. You will leave the service in a revival mode with great faith and Joy. Keep up the great work sogospelnews.com and the Gabbards. I look forward to the Gabbards Homecoming again this August.
