Songs from the Heart: God’s Still God

When a song is written, it is the desire of the songwriter that the song would be the tool that GOD uses to change the hearts of many people. I would love to share with you each month, information behind some specific songs that appear in the Singing News top 20. This month is song #14, “GOD’s Still GOD”.

I was looking through a magazine one day while traveling and I noticed a porcelain figure of Jesus. This was of the story where he was at a wedding and the wine had all been consumed. You know the story of where he took ordinary water and turned it into the best wine around, right? (see John 2:1) I also saw a Jesus figurine of yet another miracle. (Matthew 14:16) I then began to think of the many miracles that JESUS performed in the bible. I thought about where he spit on the ground and made mud, then rubbed it on the man’s eyes, (John 9:6) and how he made the lame to walk (Matthew 11:5). Then I began to think of a preacher friend of mine that was hooked on drugs and alcohol and then GOD set him free, then about the testimony of the young lady, Angie, that GOD reached out to at a nude bar. WOW, as if that weren’t enough, I began to thank HIM for when HE healed the bones in my face and back, just with a touch. The song then began to be born. I am so thankful that GOD isn’t someone or something from the past, but a very present help trouble. (Psalms 46:1) Here are the lyrics to the song. Please take time to realize that songs are more than just tunes, but sometimes testimonies AND words of encouragement to all that hear them.

Here are the lyrics to the song:

God’s Still God
(Verse One)
He took water, turned it into wine.
He healed the cripple, gave sight to the blind.
With just a few fish and a little bread,
There were over 5,000 people that were fed.

(Verse Two)
He took a drunkard, washed him white as snow.
And a lady of the night, He cleansed and made her whole.
There was a body where all the bones were crushed,
Until the hand of Jesus healed with one mighty touch.

(Chorus)
Now God’s still God, He has not changed.
God’s still God He’s always the same.
Just believe and you will receive,
He’s waiting on you to say God’s Still God

(Bridge)
What about you, are you living in pain?
You don’t have to live that way.
When Jesus died on Calvary,
He gave His life for you to believe,

I really love this song, because God is Still God, and so many times I see that los of Southern Gospel Groups in the "INDUSTRY" forget this. I hope this rings true to you guys as you sing this, that God IS STILL God and we are not. Great Song.

WOW- I am always amazed and honored to know and work with Young Harmony. They are some of the greatest people I have ever known. Radio and retail are constantly thanking me for introducing them to YH. I am so glad you wrote this song and allowed me to promote it.
