SGPA Promoter, Richard Foster, Passes Away

Long-time Southern Gospel Promoter, Richard Foster, passed away at his home in Winnsboro, Texas on Tuesday morning, July 27th. According to his wife, Lottie, Richard passed away in his sleep. Richard had a heart attack several months ago and never quite recovered.

Richard had promoted gospel concerts in the Winnsboro, Texas area for many years. He also owned gospel radio station KWNS in Winnsboro, as well as a Christian bookstore. He also owned gospel station WGSC in Mayo, Florida.

He was a long-time member of the Southern Gospel Promoters Association (SGPA). Jim Hefner, President of the SGPA said, “Southern Gospel Music has lost a friend and promoter. Richard was a man of the highest integrity and highly respected in our industry. He was one of my best friends and we chatted often. I will truly miss his insight and contributions to the SGPA.”

The funeral will be held Sunday, August 1st, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. at the Beaty Funeral Home in Winnsboro, Texas. We ask everyone to remember Richard’s wife, Lottie, and his family in your prayers.
