Hitting the Road after 19 years of Theater Performances
After spending several years in Branson, and eleven years in Pigeon Forge performing in multi-million dollar theaters, Ron Blackwood has decided to pursue his passion, and tour with an all-male traditional Gospel quartet. According to Ron, The Blackwood Quartet of 2009 will be known as “The Super Group.”
“I have literally taken months to hand-select the “best of the best” singers out there," explains Ron.
The men behind the voices are John Rulapaugh, from LaPlata, Maryland, formerly of the Dove Brothers and Palmetto State Quartet as tenor. Josh Garner, of Fairfiled, Illinois formerly of The Florida Boys sings the lead. Tracy Trent, of Asheville, North Carolina, sings baritone and assists with road management. Newcomer, Trent Adams, from Lineville, Alabama is singing bass. Pianist, Joe Cox, of Cookeville, Tennessee provides accompaniment. Ron Blackwood will keep concerts moving with his MC work and testimony as well as his baritone voice.
“I am more than ready to make this move. Singing in theaters has taken me away from my true love, Quartet Singing. I have enjoyed doing variety shows, but it is time for a change. I am at an age where I realize that I have to be true to my father’s legacy,“ stated Blackwood.
The “Hope for America Tour” featuring Ron Blackwood and the Blackwood Quartet will make its way across the country starting January 2, 2009. Group information and appearances can be found online at http://www.TheBlackwoodQuartet.com . Exclusive booking through Eagle Entertainment at 865-397-0049

Well, lets see how long this will last. I wish them well. I also wouldn't call it a "Super Group", but I guess that's the show business part of it. Good luck guys making it through the hundreds of great groups that are already established. We need another "Super Group".
I Think the Industry is needing & Ready for something New! This looks like what might be a Great Group in the making! Super Group or not! If God is in Control, Great things will happen! So Far, The Members are of the Best Quality!
super group????????????? a bit arrogant i think. i think yall will be good but i think i would drop super group.why dont you wait till your in the class of the perrys...gold city or gaither vocal band to do a little bragging????????? arrogant!!!!!!!!!!!!
im sorry to be critical...but give me a break the best of the best?????????? ivan parker.jonathan wilburn..michael english..mark lowery..brian free..rickey atkinson..jason crabb..and i could keep going but the best of the best???????????????
Once again, The Blackwoods Set the stage so these Artists could even have a chance in the Industry!
LOL Crabb couldnt carry in Equipment for most of these men mentioned! As far as Talent is concerned!
Everyone has thier own opinion! And I respect everyones. However, Im looking forward to hearing the New sound. As it stands the Industry, dosent have a highlighted Group other than Signature Sound! Im excited to at least hear what they sound like, Before I sink thier Ship!
Jacob , you have "NO CLUE', they don't have to work through anyone. They have the Blackwood name!
Ron, Is only doing the MC work! And yes, He turns more product in a month, than most of these groups will in a year! But, He has the name.
high fidelity who ever you are at least i used my real name..what about gaither...well what you say may be true i doubt it but if it is he better stay in branson and piegon forge because them days are over..but really SUPER GROUP AND BEST OF THE BEST give me a break. im not saying in any way these guys are not good im sure they are great but best of the best???? fantasy world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can only speak from experience. A few years ago I ordered a CD from the Blackwood Quartet. My check was cashed but no CD was sent. So I called their office. Ron answered himself and was very apologetic. He did not ask for proof. He just said he would take care of it. The next day I received an express package with not only the CD I ordered but every CD title they had. That is good business. I wish Ron and his group all success and look forward to hearing them.
And what about RW??? And what is the rest of the story?
Randy, why don't you wait to see what you hear and see before being so condemning. By the way, High Fidelity's facts are correct. Also, I use my real name when I post.

Well, true the use of the term "super group" is nothing more than just trying to get a buzz early on in the game. My opinion is you can't use the terms "super group" and "newcomer" in the same description. In this situation, "super group" would elude to having established talents in the line up. Sales numbers and ego aside, just put out a record that will fuel the future of SG music. I really think that they will put out an "old convention style" quartet record that's been done a gazillion times before. The line up kind of gives that one away. When I think of the name Blackwood, I just think of old campy stuff that's been WAY over done. And, I bet the 6 man thing doesn't last long either. Even established "super groups" are feeling a bit of a pinch in these times. So he's gonna emcee and get the blue hairs clapping, or what? But, with that said, prove me wrong. I would welcome that. Record a CD that covers new ground. Record a CD that pushes the edge sonically. Record a CD that will grip the ears of young music fans and will help carry SGM to the next generation of listeners. It's just hard for me to buy the scenario of these guys sitting in Pigeon Forge, TN crafting THAT kind of move for their future.
Time will only tell! However, I do wish them only the best. Times are tough all over in the Industry, in the work force, Jobs are lost daily it seems like. It will be exciting to see whats ahead for this New Sound!
deon apparently you read my comment but apparently you didnt understand it.i never condemened anybody!!!!!!!!!!i said they would be good and believe me i pray they wii be a great success for them dedicating their lives to the lord. i know its hard being away from families and friends. look at the rest of the comments and more than half question the phrase SUPER GROUP my point and ONLY point is it and best of the best and like i said these guys are good but not the best.. those 2 phrases comes across as arrogant!!!!! understand???????? and by the way the slinky quote was out of line also..god bless randy
I Love the Slinky quote! It is just like the quote made by Ron! LOL It Gets Attention! And its Great Marketing!
s.garner doesnt suprise me that you like it. and your right its JUST LIKE the quote from ron..arrogant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL Who is this Randy Daniels? Are you for real? Do you Not recognize Marketing? Best of the Best, is a phrase, Not meaning anything actually, Just an attention Getter! Ron, dosent need, my or your approval, whether you like it or not most likely dosent concern him in the least. The name Blackwood needs no Introduction, So its only for attention! And it is and will get it! Show me, Anyone who dosent say (quote) Were the Best! If I was starting a group, I would not say Hey! Book us! Were Terrable! You Have to believe in yourself, Before anyone will believe in you!
Randy, my "slinky" signature is a humorous little quote, but your throwing around the word "arrogant" is not meant to be humorous and is in fact very condemning.

Merry Christmas to Everyone! Its about over I Guess!
In one of the parables of Jesus -- He said [paraphrased] -- When attending a dinner, it's best to take a seat at the back of the room, and possibly be called "up" than "take" a front row seat and be asked to move to the back. I certainly believe in giving credit where credit is due, but having a famous last name does NOT necessarily make one great - super- fantastic -talented, etc. It might be more adventageous to take a more humble approach in describing one's self! I recognize most of these names and they DO have talent -- but, SUPER? Well, it goes back to one of my favorite words -- perception!
Obviously Jealousy has made to the Christian market, to those who don't have it in them to do what Ron Blackwood has done. I know Ron personally and believe that this will be a great group. To those of you who have not done what Ron Blackwood has done and all you have is negative comments, do us all a favor and keep your negative comments to yourself, until you can match what Ron has done! This is called promotion and Ron is great at it. Here's an idea, as Christians we should support and not tear down Let's support Ron instead tearing down.
Ron , obviously thinks outside the box.
wow! The exclamation marks, also an attention getter! LOL
Singin, I believe that Jesus also told another parable about taking the beam out of your eye before taking the splinter out of another man's eye. When did Southern Gospel leave the real world and we can not even use publicity ploys that every other business, and church for that matter, use.

I appreciate that djmaster and High Fidelity. We need to come together as the body and build up not tear down. We cannot let the enemy get a foothold. We need to be in the world but not of it!!
I thought Harold Gilley was going to be singing bass in this group???
I do agree that "Super Group" is kinda a weird name. Makes me think that they're going to be dressing up in Super Hero costumes, however, give the guys a break. Maybe God has somthing GREAT is store for them. Yes, there are 4 Blackwood groups out there, maybe even more, but they're probably doing what God wants them to. We'll know soon enough.
I never heard anything about Harold Gilley being a part of this group. Brad Smith was talked about as the Bass and Mark Blackwood for the Baritone, but that didn't work out. You can see those two with the Blackwood Gospel Quartet along with the Sunday Edition tomorrow night at the New Year's Eve singing at River of Life Church in Smyrna, TN.

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. - Proverbs 3:5-6
Well here is what Capstone was trying to show us all about Ron's renewed desire to tour...
Ye without sin cast the first stone. Even tho this has made the local papers, Why stir this pot. I just dont understand why, or what your intent is. Its Very sad! JUst pray that you dont stumble!
