I Find Pennies!

This month’s article is dedicated to our dear friend, Barbara Faircloth – we love you.

I find pennies. I find pennies so often; it has actually become humorous to my family. I always say, “I find pennies because I’m looking for them.” Tim did some work on Rebecca’s van recently, so I drove it to the school to pick her up. When we got to a red light on the way home, I decided to switch places with her to let her see how well her van was driving. I jumped out and ran around like a Chinese fire drill, and when I got in the passengers side, Rebecca asked, “Did you drop something?” Rebecca had seen me stoop down while making my race around the van. I held out my hand and there sat a penny. “You’ve got to be kidding!” she answered.

It’s great to get blessed. God sends blessings our way so often. Many times we don’t see the blessings because we are not looking for them. According to Webster’s dictionary, a blessing is anything that brings happiness. There are blessings all around, but like those pennies, we don’t always see them. There was a time in my life when I considered having to sit at home on a Friday night with nothing to do a bad thing. These days, I turn cartwheels when I have a free Friday! Deuteronomy 28 tells us that we are blessed in the city and blessed in the field. We are blessed when we come in and when we go out. We are blessed in the baskets and blessed in the store. I never used to look for blessings. There was a lady who worked at the hospital where Tim gets his treatments that had the same answer every time you asked how she was doing. This nurse would always say in a wonderful Southern drawl, “I’m blessed and highly favuhed in Jesus!” We began to imitate her at home and quickly came to the realization of how important it is to know that we are a blessed people. I can always see the blessings now. It’s because I’m looking for them.

till next time…
Sally

A radio preacher used to call them "God sightings", but I call them "THAT'S HIM! moments".

The Lord's goodness even in hard times are easily spotted, "because I look for them"

Great article, Sally! I've discovered that sometimes God's blessings are things that DON'T happen. Janice Crow

You know...I heard Joyce Myer just wrote a book THE PENNEY and I never read books except my bible but I thought I'd love to read that one. I also have myspace friend, Dusty who finds pennies every day as well and he wrote on that one time. You know You said you find them because you look for them. So many people are searching for something HUGE that they fail to collect the little things that eventually ADD UP to be HUGE!

Kwazy's avatar When my dad passed away several years ago, I started picking up "pennies from Heaven" as a reminder that he would always live in my heart. One day as I picked up a penny on a construction site, several guys had quite a time when I shared my story with them. Feeling embarassed, a little hurt, and missing my dad, I turned to go to my truck and saw another penny lying in the parking lot. I picked it up and walked away. When I got into my truck I looked at the coin in my hand and noticed the date; 1942, the year my dad was born. Blessings come in so many forms, we just have to look.
