KINSTON, NC — The Hoppers are coming to Kinston, and the group couldn’t be more pleased. America’s Favorite Family Of Gospel, the Hoppers, plan to sing at the Kinston Performing Arts Center, at Kinston High School, on Sat., Mar. 19th, at 7:00 p.m.
“We can’t wait to get to Kinston,” said Claude Hopper, manager of the legendary Southern Gospel Music group. “It’s always a memorable experience when we visit this wonderful community.”
According to Claude, the Hoppers have something very special in mind for their upcoming appearance. More than the family’s typical concert, The Hoppers Heritage Tour is coming to town.
This heritage event has been described as the group’s largest and most ambitious undertaking, and has garnered rave reviews from critics and fans alike. For the Hoppers, the tour, which began on New Year’s Eve, is a family celebration that spotlights the history and heritage of Southern Gospel music.
One of the specific purposes of this particular tour is to raise much-needed funds for the newly chartered North Carolina Gospel Music Hall of Fame, an organization located in Madison that promotes and acknowledges the powerful influence North Carolina has made in the Gospel music industry. The Hall of Fame commemorates Gospel music and its artists in all its forms.
“For me, the tour is the project of a lifetime and an opportunity for us to emphasize our American Christian heritage and thank ministry friends for years of support,” Claude said. “We also want to use the tour to reflect on how Christ has actively worked in our ministry and individual lives. We have so much to be thankful for, especially right now as we are celebrating the recent birth of our second grandchild, Dean and Kim’s daughter, Lexus Jazz Hopper.”
The concert series is also a full audio/visual program, where The Hoppers — Claude, Connie, Mike, Dean, and Kim — perform many of the sacred songs from their ministry beginnings, as well as stirring tunes by other artists and groups who have inspired them over the years.
The Hoppers’ Heritage Tour also incorporates mammoth multi-media screens that display scenes from a special collection of rare film and still photographs gathered from nearly a half-century of Christ-centered ministry.
Each video montage is coordinated with corresponding musical selections. As The Hoppers perform many of their favorite songs and hymns of the past, as well as the latest ones from their newest releases, Generations and Great Day, the Kinston audience will have the benefit of experiencing a visually stimulating display which includes touching moments with their Gaither Homecoming Friends, home-movie footage from the original Hopper Brothers and Connie era, still snapshots from the group’s meager beginnings, and scenes from past National Quartet Conventions. They will even have baby pictures of the Hopper children and grandchildren. Also included will be a poignant segment which will include film clips of artists and others who have helped establish and inspire Gospel music through the years.
The tour will capitalize on the strengths of each of the members of The Hoppers in unusual musical settings. The result will be a rich musical tapestry woven of a variety of duet, trio, quartet, and solo numbers, in one night of powerful Christian entertainment and ministry.
“After the concert, my family looks forward to meeting and greeting many of our friends who attend this special evening of music,” Dean Hopper added. “We look at it as a great opportunity to get to know everyone!”
Claude added, “It’s our goal that Christians from all walks of life will enjoy this Gospel music experience. We hope everyone in Kinston will be encouraged during the Heritage Tour,” Claude added. “We have such a wonderful Savior, and we want this special event in Kinston to glorify Him while encouraging His children.”
Tickets for the event are available at Sonda’s Gift Gallery, at Vernon Park Mall, and at Kinston Bible Bookstore, on Queen Street. Additional information is available at ; or call 336.548.2526.
The Hoppers will also appear at Fayetteville, NC, at Fayetteville Community Church, on March 20th, at 7:00pm, followed by a concert at Roxboro, NC, at Mill Creek Baptist Church on Mar. 24th, at 7:30pm.

I recentlly was priviledged to see the Heriatge Tour live, and it was really great! The show is sentimental in how the group looks back to earlier days with several touching songs, and also shows film clips from back when they were The Hopper Brothers and Connie. I never thought I would enjoy it as much as I did. The group is only doing a certain number of these special concerts, so if it comes to your town, YOU BETTER GO-O-O!
The Heritage Tour is one of the most exciting events I have witnessed in a long, long time.
The group is better than ever, and I love the giant production that they have created around their years in ministry. The Hoppers seem to do it all for the right reasons, for His glory. They are also personable and kind at their booth afterwards. I especially love that Kim Hopper! ... and Connie!!!
I hope this group comes to our area, in Logan County, Ohio. They seem like such a nice family. I can't wait to see the new tour!!
