As we set our sights upon the arrival of 2007 I can't help but think this year could be a pivoting point for Christians all over the world.
We have witnessed so many changes already in years past. And it seems that with each passing year, more and more folks are turning from God. Folks now a days live how they want and do what they want. I fear that Christians are in that same mind set.
Look at our churches today: Many have forgotten that the house of God is a place of worship. A place of reverence. It's not uncommon to walk into a service now to partake in a carry in event. We need to read the story of how Jesus cleared the temple again!
Let us take time and examine our relationship with God. How is your walk with the Creator? How does God measure up in your life. Is He still considered the most important essential means of existence in your life or has He become a mere commodity?
My prayer this year is for God to allow me the boldness to walk upright before Him and not be ashamed of who I am. I am a child of God. A holy God. A God who will soon return for His bride. My desire is for Him to find favor in me!
I don't want to be considered part of this world. I find it honorable to be peculiar and set apart. I Peter 2:9 - But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:

Rev 12:11/ And they overcame him by the blood of the lamb, and by the word of their testimony;

It feels great to start a new year with new dreams and goals to accomplish in the next 365 days. About 4 years ago, my husband gave me a Palm Pilot for Christmas. Honestly, my first thoughts were, “I will never use that!” However, he encouraged me to put my schedule on it and enter my contacts (I believe he thought my life needed a little organization). Now I literally cannot make it through the day without it! So, as it turns out, my life did need some organization! When scheduling my days, I usually map out my appointments and then in the gaps in between appointment I enter “goals” or “tasks” I would like to accomplish during that day’s time. It is a WONDERFUL feeling, when at the end of the day, every one of the goals I set for myself have been accomplished! I understand that those are just small goals but even the small goals are usually steps toward a mission or a purpose…so they are important!
Now is the time to set goals for your ministry! Take a close look at where you are today and take the time to thank God for the talent He has given you. Then think about where you would like to see your ministry at the end of this year. Set realistic, strategic goals for yourself and others in your ministry. Then determine what steps must be taken to achieve your goals. That is a step we often overlook but it is critical to making the appropriate decisions. If you don’t know what steps to take to realize your goals, then you need to ask people who know! Maybe the reason you haven’t achieved those goals before is because you are not sure “how” to make it happen! Vance Havner once said, “The hardest part of the journey is neither the start nor the finish, but the middle mile.”
I believe when God entrusts us with a ministry He expects us to take it seriously and be diligent to do our best to successfully achieve our personal purpose. Ecclesiastes 9:10 (NKJV) states “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might”! I hope you will determine to faithfully offer your best efforts this year! I am going to commit to that also!
Carroll McGruder recently organized a relief effort in Louisiana to assist victims of Hurricane Katrina. The concert was in Alexandria, LA in November. Artists on the concert included Mickey Mangun, Andrea Majors, The McGruders, Murrell Ewing, Tammy Trout, The Dunaways and other fine artists. Kevin McManus handled the production aspects of the event. It was a HUGE success bringing in over $22,000.00! We are so thankful to be a part of this special concert!
Andrea Majors, one of the artists on the Louisiana concert, recently completed a recording that will be released in March 2006! She is a Southern girl with a lot of talent. I can’t wait for you to hear her sing!
