You are a pretty new face to Southern Gospel Music. Tell us a little of your history. Where are you from? When did you develop an interest in singing the Gospel?
Thank you, I do know that true beauty comes from The Lords love shining through us.
When I was a little girl The Lord put it in my heart that I would be part of a global network that would help heal the world through music. I didn’t really understand it but I now realize it was His hand guiding my life. I was brought up in a Jewish household and knew nothing about Jesus until I was 17 and calling out with all my heart to Know God. That’s when the Lord led me to a group of people who were living just like Jesus and the disciples 2000 years ago. We walked the highways and byways in total faith preaching the gospel as they did in Mathew 10:10. I spent years on the road and went all over North and South America talking about the Truth o Jesus Christ. It was during these years that I was given hundreds of songs about the life of Christ, faith, and living in His kingdom. We started an acappella choir that is still singing for people everywhere. It was only a few years ago that the Lord moved me to take my music to the people professionally through my CDs concerts and the radio. Since then it has just been a rocket ride. So many people have responded to my songs, I’m constantly amazed. It has given me the opportunity to share my life and my hearts songs with multitudes.
How would you describe your musical style? What were your musical influences?
Well that’s a little hard to say. Since I hit the road when I was 17, I didn’t listen to the radio or anything for basically 20 years. My music was always acappella in those days since we didn’t carry or play instruments. When I started putting my first CD together, ALIVE AND WELL, for radio I had a number of different people help me and it was more of a jazz sound. Then I met the Roarks and Shane Roark helped me do my second CD THE JOURNEY HOME. It has more of a Southern Gospel, Christian Country sound. People seem to have a hard time putting me into a category. My songs are playing and charting on radio stations all over the world, on Southern Gospel, Country and Christian stations. I’ve been writing songs with a lot of different people lately so I’m putting out different sounds. I even did a bluegrass album. I love it all.
What venues do you normally sing to? Where would you like to sing in the future?
I
’ve sung just about everywhere from being in line at the grocery store to nursing homes, rehab centers, my business workshops. Then there’s the bigger concerts at churches, fanfares and music conventions like the Quartet convention in Louisville, Inspirational Country Music convention in Nashville, NACMA in Pigeon Forge. I’m so excited I got to sing at the Grand Ole’ Opry. It’s not just the places but the most wonderful part is that I’ve met thousands of people who love God who I know I get to spend eternity with!
What could a Pastor or promoter expect to see if you were performing at a service or concert for them?
I always fit my concerts to what the pastor or promoter may want want. In general I’ve found people enjoy when I sing and say a few things in between the songs. My life has been such an extraordinary adventure it seems to inspire people when I share. There’s also been some real struggles in my life that brought deeper understanding of God’s ways, that I feel can help others with their journey in faith.
If a Pastor of promoter wanted to book you, how would they go about that?
