Hendersonville, TN (May 19, 2009) – Nominations were recently announced for the 2009 Singing News Fan Awards with Daywind Records’ artists having their strongest year ever with 53 nominations in all.
Daywind Records’ President, Ed Leonard, stated, “We are humbled that the Southern Gospel fans continue to support the ministries of our artists in this way. It is a wonderful encouragement to them that what they do for Christ is making a difference and impacting people.”
The Booth Brothers, Triumphant Quartet, and Greater Vision led the pack with nine nominations each. Some of those included Favorite Artist (Booth Brothers and Triumphant Quartet), Quartet (Triumphant Quartet), and Trio (Booth Brothers and Greater Vision). Each was also nominated for Album and Song of the Year. Legacy Five received seven nominations including Favorite Artist, Quartet, Song, and Album of the Year. The Perrys garnered five nods including Mixed Group of the Year and Favorite Song. Receiving four nominations was Mark Trammell Trio, which included Favorite Trio and Song. Brian Free and Assurance (also nominated for Quartet of the Year), and Karen Peck and New River received three nominations. Austins Bridge and Crabb Revival garnered nominations in the category of Horizon Group of the Year. Two of our Daywind Publishing songwriters received nominations for Songwriter of the Year. They are Ronny Hinson and Dianne Wilkinson. Additionally, Rodney Griffin (Greater Vision) and Jim Brady (Booth Brothers) were nominated in that category.
Ronnie Booth (Booth Brothers), Scott Fowler (Legacy Five), and Gerald Wolfe (Greater Vision) also have individual nominations for Favorite Male. In addition, Eric Bennett (Triumphant Quartet) and Glenn Dustin (Legacy Five) received Favorite Bass nominations, Favorite Lead nods went to Ronnie Booth (Booth Brothers), Gerald Wolfe (Greater Vision), Bill Shivers (Brian Free and Assurance), and Clayton Inman (Triumphant Quartet). Jim Brady (Booth Brothers), Rodney Griffin (Greater Vision), Scott Inman (Triumphant Quartet), and Mark Trammell (Mark Trammell Trio) were nominated for Favorite Baritone. Michael Booth (Booth Brothers), Brian Free (Brian Free and Assurance), David Sutton (Triumphant Quartet), and Eric Phillips (Mark Trammell Trio) were nominated for Favorite Tenor. Jacob Kitson (Greater Vision) garnered a Horizon Individual nomination. He and Joseph Habedank (Perrys) both received nominations for Favorite Young Artist. Legacy Five and Triumphant Quartet have Favorite Musician nominations. Libbi Stuffle (Perrys) received two nominations, one for Favorite Female and the other for Favorite Alto. Karen Peck Gooch (Karen Peck and New River) received two individual nominations, also, Favorite Female and Favorite Soprano. Daywind leads the Song of the Year category with seven of the ten songs nominated.
On Saturday, September 19, 2009 at Freedom Hall in Louisville, KY, the Singing News magazine, Gospel music’s premier publication, will announce its Fan Awards with the top artists of Gospel music in attendance. The ceremony takes place during the National Quartet Convention.
