Daryl Williams Trio - Feb 07

We are right in the middle of recording our 2nd CD with Crossroads Music Group. And what a process it is! I used to buy other Artist's projects never realizing the time, effort, frustration, fun, excitement, blood, sweat and tears that this process provokes in the Artist.

It is always exciting to have recording dates lined up but then the real pressure and effort begins. I believe that choosing the right songs is the most difficult task, by far! I am married to an incredible Songwriter but not every song he writes is right for "us." Even though we always have a large selection of songs to pull from, Daryl will write 1 or 2 brand new songs for the current project. Such is the case again this time. Just a few days prior to recording our tracks, we had not selected the 10th song. We were somewhat preoccupied with some difficult circumstances in our lives and when you are in the midst of a storm it's hard to focus on anything else. Feeling worn out and beat up one night, Daryl opened the Bible to Isaiah 40:31...BUT THEY THAT WAIT UPON THE LORD SHALL RENEW THEIR STRENGTH; THEY SHALL MOUNT UP WITH WINGS AS EAGLES; THEY SHALL RUN, AND NOT BE WEARY; AND THEY SHALL WALK, AND NOT FAINT. He looked up from the Bible and said, "We're Gettin' Ready For Wings!" Just like the scripture, we immediately felt a renewed strength. The songwriter in him couldn't rest until that message was written. And we are anxious to record it and sing about it. We not only made it through the storm but we came out singing a song that just might help you get through your storm.

We have learned and are still learning that these CD's we make are not about showcasing special talents and abilities. We want them to be good -- the very best of our capabilities. But we know we've done our job (fulfilled our calling) when the music makes a difference in someone's life.

The final process is coming up in March when we record our vocals. This not only challenges vocal strength and ability but it is the most effective way, I know, of testing "true love." Can I get a witness from any of you who have ever recorded with your spouse? My husband and I have walked in studio holding hands and walked out not speaking. I don't understand this. We have been through hell and high water together and I love this man with all my heart but when he looks at me, the wrong way, from behind those studio mics and says, "Now, let's get it right this time!!" My mind, uncontrollably, wanders to ways I could kill him and hide the body. Some people have "road rage." I have "studio issues." Maybe Dr. Phil can help, but until then we are recording in a few short weeks and we need your prayers. Oh, lighten up, I wouldn't really hide the body.

Seriously, we are more excited about this project than any we have ever done. Daryl wrote 10 awesome songs and had the privilege of co-writing a few of them with some of our favorite Writers -- John Rowsey, Kirk Talley, Jeff Steele, Jeff Pierson, and Amy Shellem. We are honored to be working with Danny Crawford again, as Producer and the entire Crossroads team. Of course, we are thrilled to recording with Shannon Knight again. He's a joy to be in ministry with. When you hear him you'll understand!

Have a blessed month,
gotta go watch Dr. Phil,

Even Dr. Phil couldn't help you.

  3.    Heather-The Stutzman Family ~ 02/06/2007

Heather-The Stutzman Family's avatar I've definitely been there!! It's always a challange to record with your spouse. When you add kids to the mix it's even BETTER! Have a great time recording your new project; we can't wait to hear it (especially Daryl's song on Isaiah 40:31)
