Daryl Williams Trio - Concert Classics

imageProduced by Daryl Williams
Independent Label

For The Daryl Williams Trio, this is an interesting CD. It is interesting for a couple of reasons. First, the concept of recording concert classics that weren’t necessarily hits by The Daryl Williams Trio. Second, Daryl Williams is without a doubt one of the premier songwriters of the day, and he only wrote a few of the songs on this CD.

This CD is packed with 16 great songs and they are performed in the personality of The Daryl Williams Trio. Such older classics like “The Lifeboat”, “Goodbye World Goodbye”, “To God Be The Glory”, and “Children Go” are performed with a unique enthusiasm and fresh new sound to them.

Then Daryl took some of the great songs that he has written, but were made hits by other groups, and gave them his personal touch. Such songs as “Glory To God In The Highest” once recorded by Old Friends Quartet, 3 For 1, and several other groups, and the former number one hit song for the Kingsmen, “Joy’s Gonna Come In The Morning” are full of excitement.

“Mountain Get Out Of My Way” will leave you with the victory whether you were looking for it or not. No one can sing “He’s Still In The Fire” with as much excitement as Daryl can. You will be blessed after listening to this cut.

Daryl takes the country sound away from “He Still Speaks” as it was originally recorded, and added some very soft strings.  This song has become one beautiful ballad. I really enjoyed this cut.

This is just one enjoyable CD. You will be shouting with one song, and then crying tears of joy with another. There is truly something on here for everyone.
