It's no secret that getting started in this industry can be very difficult. Yet, there are many new artists out there giving it their all to further their ministry. Carol Hughes is no exception. Carol Hughes has served as Sunday school teacher for High School/College, Adult Discipleship teacher, Women's Ministry leader, Youth Leader / Director / Pastor, Worship Team member, soloist, lead singer for "One Voice" Southern Gospel Group, and has held other leadership/administrative positions. She was also President of MorningStar Youth Ministries. She is now heading the new calling on her life to venture out into ministering the Gospel through a solo ministry.
Carol first started singing when she was only eight years old in her church choir. In 2001, she joined the quartet One Voice. She began her solo career in Sept. of 2004. Carol lives in Jay Florida, north of Pensacola . She is married to John, has three children, and nine (ten by December 04) grandchildren. Carol mainly travels in Northwest Florida, Southeast Alabama and all of Georgia .
Carol's musical influences vary from Sandi Patti to Amy Grant to Avalon, Talley Trio; McKamey's and even Third Day. Most people tell Carol she sounds like Helen Ready or a lower Annie Herring. “I really feel like I have a unique sound. It's a cross between Southern Gospel and Praise and Worship.” “I enjoy such a wide variety of music and I believe it shows in my own music.” Carol is also becoming an accomplished songwriter having written about half of all the material she performs.
Carol wants to help bridge that gap between youth and adults and believes music is the key. “I used to be a youth pastor for 18 years and truly have a heart for young people. Music, including Praise and Worship is very different for youth and adults. We need to bridge that gap. I want to deliver something real, no more hypocrisy. Today's youth are longing for reality and the youth of today is music's major audience. You need to minister to the whole body so we need that bridge. Songs have the power to change a life. I deeply believe that a move of God in young people today will come through music.” This is why Carol is trying to bridge that gap by using her music. “I want to be more than just a singer. I want to be a minister.”
Carol says that hardest part of getting her ministry started has been simply getting a chance. “Being a soloist is difficult in Southern Gospel because there are so many groups out there.” "Pour Me Out", Carol's first CD project is now available. Three Hills Music Group is publishing eight of her songs and releasing “Open Your Heart, Let Him In” for air play at the end of Sept. She is available to sing, speak, teach, and minister at services - for groups, at retreats, etc. For bookings, references, or for more information, you may contact her at:

Hats off to Carol!
Gospel music needs new and innovative artists, writers and producers. You go girl. Never compromise what's in your heart. And for Pete's sake, don't listen to the experts.
