OK, every month someone in our group writes an article for sogospelnews, with the exception of last month because it was my turn and I had two months of work crammed into March and so an article didn't get written. With most of the topics, we tell you about things that happen internally with the LeFevre Quartet. This month, I want to ask a simple question and I really want some response. What makes you buy a cd? Do you buy it for the artist? In other words, if you are a fan of that particular artist, do you buy everything they release? Are you one of those fans that hear a particular song and buy the cd for the song that you've either heard on the radio or at an event? I'm just curious. So, this month's article will really be YOUR article made up of your explanations.

I tend to buy for the artist. I feel that if I've liked their other music then chances are I'll like whats on the new cd. If its just one song I've heard on the radio then I'm more likely going to search Itunes for it rather than buy an entire cd.
I do but the cd for the artist. If I liked them in the past I am sure the new cd will be liked as well. I also listen to the words of the song or songs . If I only have heard 1 song from the cd I still usually purchase the cd . There are cd's I have purchased simply because I know the artist and want to help support the ministry of that artist . I LOVE Southern Gospel Music and will purchase and listen to most any of it .
I typically buy because I like the artist. For example, I will buy anything the Perrys record. However, I will purchase a product for two other reasons: (1) I hear a song on the radio from that group that just blows me away and I wonder if the remainder of the songs on the project are that great....Example: I recently heard the group Cross4Crowns on XM Radio and was blown away by them....I will be purchasing the whole CD (2) I pick up the project at the store and see several songs on the record that are new to me (which usually means original songs). My interest will be piqued at this point and I will buy the CD.
I usually buy a CD for the artist. I will sometimes buy a CD because of a song on it that I really like but I don't do that often. However, I will buy anything recorded by The LeFevre Quartet, Brian Free & Assurance, Ivan Parker, etc. first before I buy one for one song only. Sometimes I will buy compilation CDs but there again I look at who is on it before I buy it.
God is good all the time & all the time God is good.

I buy for almost ANY reason!
I especially buy to get the newest from the group(s)I like, but also I love getting surprised....
For example, at NQC a few years ago, I was helping set up a friend's booth on Sunday Night, and while walking back thru, I saw "The Harbingers" booth, and kinda stopped and kidded around with them about, "whut is a HAR BING er?" lol... I bought the CD from them because I liked THEM, with no way of knowing if they could sing or not..... but THEY CAN!
Be ready, however, to get a few not too good CDS this way though. BUT.... If it helps a SG Group get to the next venue and help someone get to JESUS (that IS why we're here, right?) then I'll buy from now on!
I first buy for new material. If I like the artist, I buy everything they put out whether it is new material or not.
Mostly, if I hear one good song I will buy the CD. My wife listens to xmradio daily and many times she has a note at my computer saying "find the CD that has this song on it."

i buy a CD based on who i like (obviously). If there is a song on radio that i really like i may go buy the CD. It comes down to the right promos
