The trio's lead singer is already a familiar name in Christian music. Nominated
for several awards including Grammies, Doves, Singing News Fan Awards, and
Hearts Aflame Awards, Daryl Williams has made an undeniable impact on the Gospel
music industry. This prolific songwriter of over nine hundred songs has had
his songs recorded by Larnelle Harris, The Gaither Vocal Band, The Cathedrals,
The John Hagee Family, The Speer Family, The Nelons, Gold City, LuLu Roman,
John Starnes, Jimmy Swaggart with Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir and many more.
The Pioneers Quartet was formed in October of 2001 with a desire to spread
the Gospel of Jesus Christ in song, to see the lost saved, and to encourage
the
body of Christ. The Pioneers consist of: Michael Whitaker of Villa Rica, GA,
Daniel Wade of Loganville, GA, Chris Griffith of Dallas, GA, and Hurley Spinks
of Marietta, GA.
Sunday Edition is a family trio with some of the smoothest blending harmony
that has been produced in a long time. Based in Murfreesboro, TN, Southern
Gospel Music is a natural for them, although their concerts have something
for everyone. Having recently changed their name, the group was simply called
The Unthanks, based on the groups last name.
Sunday Edition comes from a legacy set forth by the father and baritone
of the group, Deon Unthank. The name, Sunday Edition, comes from an older
group that Mr. Unthank used to own back in the 70’s. The original
formation of the group was an all male quartet. That group went on to win
the National Quartet Convention Talent Contest in 1972. Soon, the group
shifted focus and became a mixed trio, with Deon, his sister Cheryl, and
his cousin Janice. “I started singing again with my daughter and
son in the 1995. Now, eight years later, we’ve managed to find our
own niche in the genre. We wanted a new name that represented us, our faith,
and the music that we bring to the table,” said Deon.
The group currently consists of the aforementioned Mr. Unthank, daughter
and primary songwriter Amy Marie, and son and vocal arranger, Chris. Stylistically,
the group sings everything from original traditional Southern Gospel to
harmonious inspirational sounds.
