“Prodigal Son”

Twenty-some years ago my dad had a cassette of the Nashville Bluegrass Band. I wore it out. I was just a little girl, but I loved that tape and listened to it over and over ‘til I’d learned all the songs by heart. I’m sure you’ve done that before with your favorite CD or tape. You know it so well you could sing every song in the correct order!

Eventually, the tape didn’t work any more. I haven't heard it in years, but when we were searching for songs for our last CD I remembered my favorite song from that tape- It was "Prodigal Son"

It is a fun song to sing, but my favorite part is the message. What a great picture of our Heavenly Father's love for us! The song has one line in particular that always grabs my heart- it is where the father says "this is my darling child!"

God feels that way about us! We are precious to Him. His love for us is greater than we can imagine! And He waits with open arms to give a welcome with blessing and forgiveness to those who make the journey back home to Him!

Lyrics:

Well, I believe, yes, I believe that I will go back home
Oh, I believe, yes, I believe that I will go back home
Well, I believe, yes, i believe that I will go back home
And be a servant of the Lord

The prodigal son was a wayward child
His heart was not to obey
But when He lost all he had a sinnin'
Well, he knew he had gone astray

When his father saw him comin'
He met him with a smile
He threw his arms around him
He said, "This is my darlin' child"
