Since Tim’s position with Vanderbilt Imaging was dissolved January 10th, he has been here at the house with me – twenty-four hours a day… seven days a week. For those of you who don’t know me, I am one of those type of people who work well alone – in quiet. For those of you who don’t know Tim, he is a social butterfly with ADHD! He’s like a gnat on cocaine! I thought the test that we were facing was trusting God for provision, but I am beginning to wonder if maybe I’m being pruned for some mission from God! Then again, aren’t we all?
Now, before you think I’m being too tough on Tim, let me share with you one afternoon with this guy. I am hurrying to get our tax information together to get our return done so Rachel can apply for her scholarship for college. After Tim spent the morning on the computer sending his resume out to every contact he had, we went to the gym then came back to the house for lunch with Rachel. Finally my turn at the computer, I was scrambling to get our receipts together for the accountant, but Tim had run out of things to do. Tim is – in all honesty - a forty-two year old kid who needs extra work to keep him busy! I had recently bought an inexpensive paper shredder for the office, so I thought I would give him a stack of old utility bills to dispose of. He absolutely loves the paper shredder! After about 10 minutes of the grinding and whining of that cheap shredder, I thought the top of my head was going to explode! All of a sudden – aaaahhhhh - peace and quiet once again. I continued typing at the computer while whispering a prayer of thanksgiving when I heard Tim ask, “Oh, are these the papers you want me to shred?” Stunned, I looked up to see the pile of old bills in his hand! “Tim,” I said, “What have you been shredding for the last ten minutes?” With a sheepish look on his face, he replied, “The old coupons from the kitchen drawer.” The thought crossed my mind, “Can I fit Tim in that shredder?” Then I repented and just replied, “Lord knows we don’t want the information on those coupons getting out, Tim – the garbage man may see them.”
I AM on a mission from God – a “CO” mission! Matthew 28:19-20… Ring a bell? Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
