Booth Brothers - Room For More
Producer: Barry Weeks Label: Daywind Records Website: http://www.boothbrothers.com You won't find one group who has shot to the top of the industry any faster than the Booth Brothers. There was no denying the group's popularity before - but the group had their real watershed moment with the release of "He Saw It All" and the award-winning album The Blind Man Saw It All. A couple table projects and a slew of awards later - the Booth Brothers are returning with Room For More - their debut recording for Daywind Records. The group has once again teamed up with producer Barry Weeks (Brian Free & Assurance, The Imperials) for another fantastic recording. The album kicks off with the radio friendly and happy-go-lucky "Welcome to the Family" before switching gears into the easy-listening vibe of "When He Saved Me" and first big ballad "Stand". Progressive-meets-pop/country in the vein of another past hit by the group ("Testify") is heard on "Faithful One", and "What Salvation's Done For Me" sounds straight out of the 1980's pop-ballad soundtrack - with a featured harmonica to boot. The group showcases other styles and genres as well - like country ("Stuff of Life"), progressive/pop ("The Half That's Never Been Told"), shades of bluegrass ("Love & Grace"), and inspo-balladry ("Freedom" and "Standing Tall"). Like in true Booth Brothers fashion - the popular trio tries on different styles to see what really fits the group - and like always - the group pulls each song off extremely well. Musically - you probably won't find a group more comfortable at singing so many different styles. However, they really sound their best when pulling off Eagles-like harmonies with shades of Rascal Flatts and Gaither Vocal Band thrown in their songs. Lyrically, again, its easy to see that the Booth Brothers are comfortable at just being who they are - as the group tackles everything from life ("Stuff of Life", "Welcome to the Family") to the Gospel ("What Salvation's Done For Me" and "Stand"). Ronnie, as always, gets plenty of face time on this disc, but Michael and Jim get their chance to shine as well - most notably Jim on "Stand" and Michael on "Freedom". Room For More may not go down as a historic recording in the Booth Brothers' history - but it is still an excellent recording by one of Southern Gospel's most prized groups - and it's easily one of the best recordings released this year.
