The Pathfinders - Mercy Answered

The Pathfinders consist of Dearl Lemons, Dawn McGuire, and Brian Dockins. In the past they have always been a very traditional group, but with this CD they have stretched themselves, both musically and vocally. The songs are more difficult and the arrangements more challenging, but they have risen to the task. Their harmonies are very tight, and their expression as a group is very good.
This CD is loaded with 15 songs, and the Pathfinders have done a good job of giving you a lot of diversification in song selection. With songs like "I Don't Sail Alone" and "What The Sea Saw" you hear a nice Traditional sound. You catch some Country sound on songs like "I'll Do It For You", "You Are A Breath", and "This Is What Love Looks Like". I love the Progressive sounds of "On The Authority", "It's Better", and "What Do I Offer A King". They even give us a touch of "Soul" on "Pour It On Down".
"Calm The Storm" and "He Sees Me Through The Blood" are beautiful Ballads, while "What The Sea Saw" is three chords and a cloud of dust. This CD shows the many musical sides of the Pathfinders and they're all very good. Songs I really liked include "Pour It On Down", my first radio pick, "What The Sea Saw", my second radio pick, and "What Do I Offer A King".
If you have never heard the Pathfinders before, this is a great CD to introduce you to them. If you have heard them before, I think you will really like what they did with their sound, I know I did.
