I love this late fall weather. All the colors and the crisp air just suits me to a “t”. November finds Southern Sound getting ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas with families. Also, we are aggressively looking for new material for an upcoming project just after the first of the New Year. It seems that’s about all we do lately is look for new songs. Keith and I have written a few new ones that the group will listen to and either vote yah or nay, but maybe a couple of ours will make the grade. If you have songs that you think might fit us, by all means send them our way.
We just finished our annual Homecoming at Fohs Hall in Marion, KY. Our special guests this year were the Childress family from Madisonville, KY. We had a wonderful time of singing and praising the Lord. The youngest member of the Childress family is Miss Courtney, who I would guess to be in her mid teens. Rumor got back to me that she did a pretty good imitation of me, so during our first time on stage I called her up to sing a song with us. She was embarrassed, the crowd loved it, and the guys tried to hire her to sing lead for SSQ. I suppose you know where that left me! All and all, we had a great time.
Next year in October we have a group scheduled to be with us that some of you folks may know called Sunday Edition, or better known to some of us old heads around here as the Unthanks. Deon and family graciously accepted our offer a couple of months back, and we are really looking forward to having Sunday Edition as our special guests next year. Stay tuned, we will keep you posted.
We will be in the Tuscaloosa, Al area on November 8th and 9th. This is a new region for us and we are really are anxious to be there. We will also be in Henderson KY Middle School Fine Arts building on November 15th with the Southlanders and God Send. This should be a good singing as well. We will end the year this year at Trace Creek Baptist in Mayfield, KY. That sounds somewhat final does it not? However, not true, the first of the year brings new dates in new places. I am excited about 2004. I will tell you more later.
Our new recording on ZION, “One Voice” is out and available now! For the dates where Southern Sound will be appearing, please log onto our web site. While you’re there don’t forget to sign our guest book.
