Ah yes, September in the US – before you know it we’ll be rounding the corner of 2003 and racing toward 2004. But WOW! What a year we have had in the Spring Hill camp! Many Spring Hill artists have spent a portion of their year in the studio garnering new projects for their fans and giving audiences nationwide something special from the stage.
In case you haven’t heard these new renderings from my friends, let me recap 2003 to date.
In March you saw three of Southern Gospel’s most -loved female vocalists,
Karen Peck Gooch, Joyce Martin McCollough and Sheri
Easter come together for
the first time on the Best of Friends CD. The debut single “Chains
Gone Set Free” had been playing on radio nationwide and the feedback from
this song suggests that we have given you a hit recording! The sophomore single
release, “If She Could,” features a tender lead from Sheri Easter.
This touching ballad is the journey of a woman in her final days of the Alzheimer’s
disease. God blessed Kenna Turner West when her pen hit the paper on this one.
You must get this CD and share the blessing of this incredible selection of
songs. My favorite line from “If She Could”: When I get to Heaven,
I won’t be ashamed… “Cause when I see you, I’ll know
your name. Mercy, that’s powerful!
Next The Oak Ridge Boys took the plate and yes I’ll say it, hit a homerun!
COLORS, the latest CD from these fabulous four gentlemen is a masterpiece,
highlighting the values that each member holds near and dear to his heart;
God, family, country and hometown. The very moving first single, “This
Is America” has brought tear filled audiences to their feet with pride
while on tour this year. The title track, “Colors” was heard over
the July 4th holiday on radio stations all over the world to honor those brave
servicemen and women defending our freedoms at home and abroad. These gentlemen
are very busy this year, performing 173+ dates in 2003. If you are interested
in seeing the Oak Ridge Boys in concert, visit http://www.oakridgeboys.com for an
up-to-the-minute tour schedule. Make plans now to attend a very moving performance
from the Oak Ridge Boys and pick up your copy of COLORS today!
Rounding out the Spring Hill releases for the front half of the year is the
first solo effort from the very gifted Kim Hopper entitled, Imagine. The always
delightful, never disappointing vocals of this multi award-winning lady shine
through on her first compilation of songs that will without a doubt touch the
soul of the listener. From the upbeat single ”The Road Home” to
the very moving ballad, “The Cross Said It All” a tender side of
Kim Hopper has been captured forever in this beautiful, engaging, and exciting
CD! Your copy of this CD Imagine is waiting for you now at all fine Christian
bookstores!
Then the summer started to really heat up with new releases from two new
Spring Hill artists! The long awaited Dottie Rambo CD Stand
By The Riverfound its way to radio in June with her debut single ”I’m Gonna
Leave Here Shoutin” and into retail stores July 22. Sharing the same
retail release date were the rich harmonies of Spring Hill’s first
male trio and nationwide favorites, the Booth Brothers. The Booth Brothers’ first
single “Under God” was written as a response to a recent California
Circuit Court ruling that threatened to remove the words Under God from our
Pledge of Allegiance. The Booth Brothers have taken this message to the masses
in concert and their moving rendition of this very poignant lyric brings
Americans to their feet- EVERY TIME! Call your radio station and request “Under
God.” Don’t forget to also support the Booth Brother’s
ministry by picking up your copy of the Booth Brothers self-titled CD at
your local Christian bookstore as well.
Not to be left out- the divine Ms. Dottie Rambo has made a tremendous impact
on her fans with her debut single, the very upbeat “I’m Gonna Leave
Here Shoutin.” In addition to her first release in 18 years, Dottie has
been the honored in the historic tribute We Shall Behold Him- A Tribute
to Dottie Rambo. Taped at the world famous Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN,
this star-studded tribute, which includes performances by Dolly Parton, Vestal
Goodman, Larry Gatlin, Reba Rambo and many more will be available in stores
September 9th. Please stop by and say hello to Dottie in booth #665 at the
NQC if you are there. Tell her I sent you!
Folks, this year keeps getting better as we continue the new releases from your favorite artists. Brand new recordings and possibly “career best” projects have just hit stores or are on the immediate horizon.
For His Glory is the latest release from the multi-award winners Karen
Peck & New
River hit stores August 26. Armed with 12 brand new songs including the debut
power ballad, “That’s Why They Call It Grace”, look for this
group to hit new highs of adoration in the hearts of their fans. Other favorites
on the record include “Jump”, “The Past” and “All
For the Glory of Christ”. YOU MUST GET THIS CD! I just cannot say that
enough. (If you read last month’s Spring Board, you will see that I have
a HUGE fondness for this record and these amazing artists!)
The Hoppers just keep amazing me and I know they will you too. This new recording,
Great Day has climbed to the top of the mountain of greatness! Radio now has
the first single, “God Is Good” and if you haven’t heard
it yet, call and request it! It’s a real ”toe tappin’, get-
cha- goin’- in- the- Lord” kind of song! Another fabulous song
on the record is the very masterfully produced (Lari Goss) song, “Jerusalem”.
The writer of this amazing song, Paula Stefanovich, shared with me the motivation
of “Jerusalem.” Late at night during a weekend getaway with her
mother a conversation between the two ladies occurred during a Bible session
about what John saw. She said, “I want to write about that city… I
want to walk where angels trod…” Inspiration and imagination took
over and the lyrics followed not too far behind. It’s truly amazing and
worth the price of the CD to hear the Hoppers sing it! It’s available
NOW in all Christian bookstores.
In stores later this month (September 23) two more Spring Hill artists will
grace us with their talents. Jeff & Sheri Easter will release Forever
And A Day and the Martins charge forward with a powerful CD, Above
it All. I will
give a more in depth account of these unbelievable recordings next month, but
until then I want you to be aware that “My Country” from Jeff and
Sheri Ester is now spinning on radio stations nationwide as is “The
Promise” from
the Martins and both will simply blow you away!
So, if you haven’t heard the latest CD’s from my friends on the
Spring Hill label, you need to go directly to the Christian retailer near you
and take them home with you!
I hope to meet many of you at NQC this year. Thank you for also supporting the entire Spring Hill family including CrossWay, The Ruppes, and Janet Paschal. All of these artists appreciate your support in concert and from retail.
If you are in the area this month in Louisville, KY, please stop by the Spring Hill NQC booth (#436) and say hello! I look forward to meeting you! Until next month, may God be with you and yours!
