This month is extremely important in the Southern Gospel Music genre, particularly the second week of September. For one week fans and artists get together for what seems like a never ending cycle of singing and fellowship (not to mention good food)! For fans, it’s a time when we can see our artists sing, then go back to their booth and sit down and chat with them for awhile. We get to know them in a more “personal” way. It’s a time to buy every CD, Cassette, Video, or DVD that we can carry. We get autographs and pictures and AMAZING Ice Cream & Lemonade! (Don’t believe me? Ask ANYONE who attends) For artists, it’s a chance to visit with long lost fans not to mention our favorite artists as well. We get to sit down with those fellow singers we pass on the road and actually have real conversations with them. We get to discuss our ministries, our business, and our stories of the road. Sometimes these friends we only see once a year, every year at the National Quartet Convention. For fans and artists, time seems short. This week in September is one that’s forever remembered by all. We share times of laughter, and some times of tears. For instance, no one will forget the day of September 11. The world was sad, many cried, many worried and feared. But most importantly, we all pulled together, we encouraged and uplifted each other through this Southern Gospel Music, and the Spirit of the Lord was there. No one there could deny that we were safe right then and there! The National Quartet Convention is one thing for sure. It’s a place to love, laugh, and share in song the one true meaning in life. God shows up! Now you put God and thousands of gospel music lovers and singers together and you know a good time is had by all! If you are going, be sure to stop by SoGospelNews booth #1005. We want to meet you! But most of all, will you make sure you tell your artist or fan, friend or family that you appreciate them? Make sure you let them know what a blessing it is to have this time to share with them, even if it is short! And stop by the NQC booth and let them know what a privilege they have given us to share in such fellowship. They work hard at putting together something we all might enjoy, young and old alike! If you aren’t going, you’re going to miss it! BUT, we at SoGospelNews will be presenting live interviews and updating with pictures. So, we will try to share what we are experiencing, but it still won’t be the same without YOU!
