Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Bradley Littlejohn and my full-time position is as baritone for the Southern Gospel trio, Paid In Full. I am only a part-time columnist (despite requests to suspend such activity at once).
I'd like to preface this column by sharing with you what a wonderful "job" I have. Notice I used quotation marks for many who don't consider it a real job. Nevertheless, I feel that God has allowed me the opportunity to serve Him through music and has worked it out so that Jeff, Lance, and I can earn a living at it as well. Don't think for a minute that I take that lightly. But don't think for a minute that I take my time off seriously. Thus, observations like the following arise. Here is my top ten list of jobs I don't think that I would enjoy: (Number 1 being the most unenjoyable.)
- 10. Cambodian gold miner - I hear that work conditions aren't the greatest.
- 9. Musical arranger for a barbershop quartet - It would be easier to re-design the entire U.S. Interstate system than to cram four people into harmony that close.
- 8. Wile E. Coyote - Doesn't that guy take a beating? For what? Two lines every 300 episodes?
- 7. Circus clown - I would frighten myself.
- 6. Private first class in the U. S. Army - I've heard the stories.
- 5. Private first class in Saddam Hussein's army - Goes without saying.
- 4. Cambodian salt miner - Same bad conditions. Not as rewarding as gold mining.
- 3. Cheese farmer - Don't ask.
- 2. Wide load driver on Highway 30 between New Albany and Oxford, Mississippi - I couldn't take the pressure.
- 1. The vehicle that follows the aforementioned wide load.
If for some reason you are privy to information as to why I might enjoy the jobs I've listed above, please contact me. I'd like to know. Join me next time for "Where is the Y2K bug's evil lair? He's got to be hiding somewhere."
Official disclaimer: This column expresses the views owned solely by Bradley Littlejohn, not Paid In Full or SoGospelNews.com. So if you've got a beef, e-mail Bradley. But don't think for a minute that you can discourage me by punching holes in my arguments. And one other thing, I offer only observations. No real solutions. I don't think that far in advance.
