Ok…I'm a little late getting this article out. Truthfully, I had nothing "from the heart" to give you. No fine words of wisdom to share. Since I'm all out of wisdom I'm just going to tell you how my birthday went.
Oct. 1 was my birthday. Rumor has it from someone at Daywind that I'm now 40 years old. I know, I know, I hold my age well! Haha! I wanted to thank all who wished me a happy and blessed birthday, whether by email or on the message boards. Even though some of you seem to be trying to find me a husband, you all are awesome people and I love you so very much! I must mention a few people, one being Buffi Holland of Spring Hill Music Group. She is a beautiful person who has a heart made to love! She is one of those people that when she meets you, whether she knows you real well or not, will hug you like she's known you for years and like she's not going to see you for another 20 years. You have to remind her sometimes that you have to breathe, but it's all straight from her heart! Buffi took time out of her busy day to call me and wish me a Happy Birthday. Last year, Buffi had Sheri Easter, Karen Peck, and Joyce Martin call me at work and sing "Happy Birthday" to me. Imagine my shock! I couldn't even speak. I'm sure Sheri, Karen, and Joyce thought I was some looney friend of Buffi's. This year was no exception to Buffi's gift giving. Buffi Holland has a way of sweet talking all these artists into giving me a phone call. I think she pays them! This year, Buffi had Ronnie Booth (of the Booth Brothers) call me to wish me a Happy Birthday. Only, me being the smooth talker I am, called him Michael (his brother). I felt so bad! Fortunately, he laughed but apparently later told Buffi of my mistake, and Buffi then told the whole internet! Haha! I apologized, no worries. I do hope Ronnie will some how find it in his heart to forgive me for calling him by his brother's name. I promise it was an honest mistake…I get nervous when all these big artists call me on my birthday!
Let me take a moment and share this with you. We've been going through some trials in our family, as I'm sure most of you have. In this day and age, it's almost impossible not to. But God's been faithful. He knows exactly what we are going through, and knew it before we even started the trial. I probably sound really conceited saying this next part, but here goes anyway. I co-wrote a song with Rebecca Peck, entitled "Even In the Valley" that was recently recorded by The Whisnants. Now before you think I'm just plugging my song, I want you to know that I truly believe God allowed me to find Rebecca so we could write this song. He knew the "valley" that my family would be in at this point in time. He knew that we would need to know that "even in the valley" HE is so good to His children. He promised us that He would never leave us nor forsake us, but He never promised that we would not have any problems or trials. It seems we've been dealing with this "valley" for quite sometime. Even if this song NEVER touches another human being, I KNOW it was written for me and my family at this point in time.
I guess, I had something From The Heart afterall!
