Wasn't it just the other day that we were celebrating July 4th? This year has flown! But here we are at November, the month of Thanksgiving. Our founding fathers thought it was appropriate to take time to be thankful. The Pilgrims were thankful for their safe passage to the new world. It was celebrated at many times throughout the years until it was finally written into law. On November 26, 1941, President Roosevelt signed legislation officially making the fourth Thursday in November, Thanksgiving Day. So, it is all together fitting that every year, on this special day, that we gather around our tables, and thank God for all the blessings He pours out upon us. What are you thankful for this year? As I was thinking of this, and what to write for the devotional this Thanksgiving month, my thoughts went directly to a song which The Perrys have had climbing the charts for several months. "Still Blessed," written by Kyla Rowland, expresses praise and thanksgiving for all the things that sometimes we take for granted in our lives. "Some times I wake up in the morning I see I made it through the night I listen for my family Sure enough, they're all right As we gather 'round the table Bow our heads in thankfulness With tear-filled eyes my heart cries, "Still Blessed" There's never a day He doesn't give me all I need Even when I wake up to the storm My soul cries "Peace" Sometimes I try to count them There's too many, I confess So in awe of grace I just say, "Still Blessed"" How thankful we should be that we have a merciful Heavenly Father Who blesses us each and every day, in so many ways, with bountiful blessings. I know we all have problems, but in the midst of them all, we can still raise our hands and cry, "Still Blessed!" We're blessed with knowing the One Who can lift us up out of all of those problems, or Who will walk with us through every valley. We are children of the One Who promised to meet all our needs through His riches in Glory, in Christ Jesus. We belong to the One Who promised to never leave us or forsake us. We are sons and daughters of El Elyon, the Most High God of all the Universe, and we a Joint-Heirs with His Son, Jesus, Who overcame the world for us, and Who lives within us! Well, Glory!! We've got plenty to be thankful for. I hope you have the most wonderful Thanksgiving with your loved ones, ever. Sometime during the day, just lift your hands towards heaven and shout, "Still Blessed!!!"
