Greetings Friends of Freedom and welcome to the first edition of Freedom Feature. We are thrilled to have this opportunity to share our random thoughts on anything about everything! Sometimes the stories will be heartfelt, others light-hearted, but always worthwhile.
The month of May always brings to mind the Memorial Day road trip to Southern Illinois. Back then nobody called it Memorial Day. Some called it Decoration Day, but Dad always just said “the 30th of May”. As a kid, all I cared about was getting to dad’s family reunion held on that holiday every year at a park in his little hometown, Eldorado.
Not long ago we found ourselves in route from Phoenix, Arizona to Los Angeles, California. Feeling just a little tired we decided to try and find a motel to spend the night. The only town we could find on that deserted stretch of interstate happened to be on the small town of Blythe, California just a stone’s throw over the state line.
Oh The Best Is Yet To Come, Yes I Know. Jesus Said, I Believe It, and It's So. Why would we want to doubt these words? The best, they very, very best is yet to come. One of these days, our lord and savior Jesus Christ is going to come and carry us home to be with him forevermore. What a wonderful, great day that will be.
This month we are finishing up a CD with eleven brand new songs, songs written by some of Gospel Music's most well know writters such as Diane Wilkenson, Greald Crabb, Glen Bates, Daryl Williams, Marty Funderburke and our own Brandon Barry to mention a few..
One thing that I have learned is that God is at work all around us and if we seek His will in our lives, we can see what God wants us to do; clearly.
The Beelers are happy on their journey! Thankful today for God's gifts in our lives.
I recently preached a message about compassion. It coincided with “Compassion Sunday” promoted by Compassion International – a very worthy organization working for needy children. The scripture that was read is very familiar to most of us and really comes to the point about the role compassion needs to play in the life of a Christian. I’ll Barry-phrase it for the sake of brevity, but make sure you go to your bibles and read it again!
20 years ago I surrendered my life to serving Jesus in gospel music. During these years I worked hard vocalizing & singing daily, sacrificed, attended gospel singing school (6 times), sang with 7 groups and soloed for 4 years.
As the weather gets warmer, we think of all the great outdoor concerts, festivals, dinners on the ground, and lots of fun “Singin' ” going on! This is a fun time of year!
Recently the Calvarymen were driving through West Virgina and South Carolina while on the Homeland Concert Series. I was reminded again of the beauty of God's creation. What an amazing God we serve!
As I began singing gospel music again, there was a dramatic change for me. Instead of choosing songs to sing, God would direct me to songs that chose me! Each new song God sent would speak & draw from personal experiences.
Greetings from Houston! Our tour for 2012 has officially begun. It started in Florida and from there to Texas and before its all said and done we will find ourselves in Missouri, Arizona, Nevada, Utah and California. The trip is officially over in August!
We would like to start this article by stating,"God is bigger than we could ever understand"! This past month has been an amazing journey for the ministry of Crystal River.
After I repented, returned to God’s fellowship and service, I felt a steady pull toward gospel singing. It became very clear God was leading me in this direction. I started looking for songs to sing and ways to regain my vocal abilities.
Buffet is a word you seldom hear.....unless you're standing, plate in hand, waiting your turn to snag a couple of chicken legs before the sumo wrestler behind you polishes them off. Uh......not that buffet. The other one. The one we don't care to talk about. The one that 2 Corinthians 12:7 refers to.
This month, our home church is starting a study called Experiencing God. We had a great opening weekend full of study and reflecting on being used by God and entering into God's work where He is working and not just doing something, just hoping He is in it.
Is it March already? March madness sales! March marking the third quarter and the New Year. Wow, where does time go?
The American Society of Gospel Music (ASGM) began as a mere idea in 2010, with a couple of gospel music lovers who were looking for a way that artists and the fans could connect with each other.
