The Cooley’s Release New Project
The Cooley’s of Waynesboro, MS have just completed their debut project with Lamp Music and Potters Clay Records. The new project is entitled Walkin on a New Road and their first radio release will come from this new project. The Cooley’s will debut their new project on November 10, 2007 at Liberty Baptist Church in Waynesboro, MS. The concert is set to start at 7:00 p.m. with special guest artist The Meyers Family, from Mosselle, MS.Providentials Quartet Begins Work on New Project
(McComb, MS) - The Providentials Quartet, from McComb, MS, recently began work on their newest project being recorded at HighWay 44 Recording, in McComb. The recording, as of yet untitled, will be the group's 9th studio project. "Past Met Grace", released in 2006, produced Christian Voice chart song, "Glory Hallelujah Song", written by Joel Lindsay and Barbara Huffman of Sunset Gallery Music/BMI.Reggie Duncan, owner of HighWay 44 Recording, states, "I am very excited to be working with a group of men who love Southern Gospel music, but more importantly love the Lord. The songs were prayerfully chosen and will include songs penned by lead singer Joe Young and tenor singer Tim Johnson. One of my songs has been chosen as well!"
The basic music tracks were recorded at Snippa Creek Studios, in Valley, AL, with Randy Miller, produced by Duncan. An All-Star band was chosen for this session including Danny Crawford on keyboard, Joel Key on guitars, Jonathan Presnell on percussion, along with Miller on harmonica and engineering the session. Back in Mississippi, Duncan has added pedal steel guitar and dobro to the tracks and has begun recording the vocals.

Josh Akers Departs Atoned
[PRESS RELEASE] PIKEVILLE, KY - Josh Akers one of the founding members of Atoned, announced today his departure from the trio. Akers states he left the road in August to pursue other interests, but is planning on returning to the southern gospel scene in the near future.When asked to discuss his plans, Akers stated that his ministry in southern gospel music is just beginning. The Quicks To Be Featured on Gospel Greats
Group members Tim, Sally, and Rebecca Quick met with Paul Heil during the week of the 2007 National Quartet Convention to record the interview. On the Artist Spotlight segment, you will hear portions of their visit along with songs from their new CD including their new radio single, The Word is Out, which was co-written by Sally Quick and singer/songwriter Daryl Williams.
“It was really exciting getting to be interviewed for The Gospel Greats” says Sally. We also enjoyed our visit with Paul and Sheila before the tape started rolling. They are just our kind of people. The fact that we are both raising teenagers may add to that. It makes for some interesting stories!”
“Paul and Sheila were so awesome to be around – they made our interview so much fun and laid back," stated Rebecca. "And Sheila is my new favorite person because she likes to do Sudoku as much as I do!”
The new recording by The Quicks, THE WORD IS OUT, was produced by Tommy Cooper, whose client list reads like a Who’s Who of Gospel music. Tommy has worked with such artists as Anthony Burger, Reggie and Lady Love Smith, Ben Speer, The Crabb Family, The Cathedrals, not to mention the Gaither Vocal Band and the Gaither Homecoming Series.

Dewey Hopper Passes Away
Dewey Hopper, youngest brother of Claude Hopper. lost his battle to cancer on Saturdat Oct 27. He was 62 years old. The viewing will be Monday evening October 29 at Colonial Funeral Home in Madison, NC. The Funeral will be held Tuesday October 30 at Ellisboro Baptist Church 2:00pm in Madison, NC. Prophets Quartet Featured on the Gospel Greats with Paul Heil
The newly reorganized group was featured in the Artist Spotlight segment of the popular radio show during the weekend of October 13-14, 2007.
The Prophets were interviewed during the week of the National Quartet Convention this past September. The Artist Spotlight segment included portions from that interview as well as two new songs from the Prophets Quartet’s upcoming recording.
“We were so honored to be interviewed by Paul,” mentioned Ed Hill of The Prophets Quartet. “We had such a good time doing this interview with Paul. The interview turned out great. We are so pleased with the response we have already seen from it.”
The two songs that the Prophets Quartet debuted were “Love Like the Sun” and “I’ll Follow.” “Love Like the Sun” is a song revived by the Prophets for this new album. It is a Lari Goss composed song that the original Prophets Quartet also recorded.
Paul Jackson of the Prophets Quartet said, “Personally, it’s a great honor for me to sing Lari’s song anytime, but to get to sing it with two legends, and one of the world’s greatest bass singers and have it premier on the number one SG Radio program of all time, well, what can I say? Thank you God for this fantastic musical blessing!”
“I’ll Follow” was written by Prophets lead singer Paul Jackson and acclaimed singer/songwriter/producer Johnny Minick.
The Prophets Quartet was in the studio this past week laying down tracks for the last few songs to be included on the group’s debut recording. More information on the new recording will be released shortly.

Lois Peck, Mother of Judy Nelon, Passes Away
Her legacy came from the Deep South where she and her deceased husband, Rev. Leroy O. Peck, pastored many years in Georgia, and during this time Sharon, Judy and Linda (Sunshine Sisters) cultivated a lifelong love of Gospel music while they worked in their parents Christian Music Stores.
Mama Peck, will be remembered as a quiet, gentle giant, and will be missed by her many friends in the Gospel music industry.

Broadway Legend Carol Channing Records Song for All-Star Dottie Rambo Tribute Project
The album, scheduled for release in 2008, will feature artists from various genres of music performing classic songs from Rambo's vast repertoire. Channing's "One More Valley" was recorded in her hometown of Modesto, California earlier this month with arranger John Wyatt.
"I can't tell you how excited I was that Carol Channing recorded "One More Valley," I couldn't stop playing it over and over," says Rambo. "Each time I play it, I'm like a little girl at Christmas who just got her first doll."
"I'm still in awe!" says the album's supervising producer Larry Ferguson, "I can't even express to you how honored I am to work on a project with the first lady of musical comedy. The track is amazing, it's sort of a fusion Dixieland, Traditional Gospel, and New Orleans music mixed with a lot of Carol Channing. I have always loved her voice and her ability to tell a story with her trademark vocal. Carol even added a cute message for Dottie at the end of the track."
"Listening to Carol Channing's rendition of 'One More Valley' is like riding on a musical rollercoster, there's a surprise around every corner," says Wyatt.
Channing, a multiple Tony-award-winner, is also an accomplished vocalist with over 10 gold albums to her credit. She is the recipient of Harvard University's "Hasty Pudding Woman Of The Year" award and is best known for her performances in Hello Dolly and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Channing won a Golden Globe, and was nominated nominated for an Oscar for her role in Thoroughly Modern Millie. She is currently lending her talents to raising money for resurrecting the arts into public schools.
Rambo, writer of over 2500 songs, is one of the most recognized and successful writers in Gospel music. Rambo won a Grammy award in 1968 for her album It's The Soul of Me. She has been inducted twice into the Gospel Music Hall Of Fame and is also a member of the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame and Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. Rambo's songs have been recorded by a "who's who" of American music, including Elvis Presley, Whitney Houston, Dolly Parton, and Jerry Lee Lewis.
Donna Beauvais Departs Hope’s Call

TRIBUTE QUARTET TO APPEAR ON THE DINO SHOW
--NASHVILLE, TN--Tribute Quartet of Nashville, TN, was recently the featured guest on The Dino Show, hosted by internationally known pianist and recording artist, Dino Kartsinokis. Josh Singletary Finishing Up New Piano Solo Project
Tribute Quartet baritone and keyboard artist, Josh Singletary, has been hard at work in the studio putting the finishing touches on his much-anticipated debut piano solo recording. In 2001, Josh entered the southern gospel scene as pianist for the Wilburns, and he quickly got people’s attention with his keyboard mastery as well as his quick wit and charm. Rod received nominations in the categories of Newcomer of the Year and Male Soloist of the Year.

Helen McSpadden, mother of Gary McSpadden and Cheryl Kartsonakis passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2007 at Branson, Missouri. There was a visitation at Whelchel Funeral Home in Branson Sunday, October 14, from 2 PM until 6 PM. A funeral service will be held in Franklin, Tennessee (Nashville) at 2 PM, Wednesday, October 17, at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home. Misty Freeman-Callaway (The Freemans) and Husband Bryce Expecting First Child
Baby Callaway is due in May of 2008.
Misty said, “Bryce and I are so excited! We saw the baby on the ultrasound this past week, and it was rubbing its little eye with its hand and jumping around for us.”
Misty continued, “Bryce is convinced it’s a boy. He won’t even let people call the baby ‘IT’. He responds by saying ‘You mean HE!’ We are just having a blast and are loving this time in our lives!”
Misty is back on the road with the Freemans after taking four weeks off due to doctor’s recommendation.
“I missed traveling and singing so much,” mentioned Misty. “I didn’t know what to do with myself at home that many days a week. I appreciate everyone’s thoughts and prayers during that time.”
Misty is an acclaimed Christian music soloist and member of the popular Southern Gospel family group The Freemans.

God’s Masterpiece by the Marksmen is now available

Farewell project for NAOMI AND THE SEGOS in the works

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame inductees The Imperials recently received news that the group’s current single has become the group’s first Top 40 single from their self-titled album, The Imperials.
The single, “All That Matters to the Lord”, made an impressive jump from #73 to #38 on the upcoming November 2007 Singing News Top 80 in only its second month of charting.
In addition, the song has also reached #9 on the SoGospelNews.com Top 40 Weekly Chart and the Top 20 of the SGUSA Weekly Countdown.
“We have just been astounded by how well this song has done so far,” mentioned Shannon Smith of The Imperials. “It’s a fun little song, and are glad to see that radio is has liked it so much.”
“All That Matters to the Lord” was written by Marty Funderburk and Twila LaBar. The song can be found on the group’s critically acclaimed self-titled album, The Imperials.

Inspirational Country Music Week To Host Songwriting and Talent Contests
The Songwriting Contest will be judged by industry professionals and established songwriters. The winner will receive a three-song recording of their original songs, eight hours studio time with three musicians, and a copy of the songs with soundtracks. The winner will be announced on stage during one of the nightly showcases. The deadline for song submission into the Songwriting competition is October 26, 2007. You do not have to be present to win.
The Talent Contest is limited to the first 30 registrants and will take place on Friday, November 2, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. This contest is judged by highly respected and qualified Nashville professionals and executives involved in the music industry. The winner will receive a 10-song production complete with 20 hours of studio time, a professional engineer, five musicians, and renowned producer Gene Higgins. Heartland Harmony Renews Contract with Southern Spin Entertainment

Listeners who recognize Gordon’s contributions to albums by Alan Jackson, Martina McBride, Rascall Flatts and countless other country artists will appreciate the country-tinged tunes and signature piano styling that has become that “Gordon Mote” sound. The group has re-signed for another year of exclusive publicity from Southern Spin Entertainment. The Challenge, which runs during October (National Breast Cancer Awareness Month) raises funds to provide free mammograms for underserved women nationwide.Sheri recorded public service announcements which will air on Christian and Gospel radio stations coast-to-coast as well as on southerngospelhits.com, solidgospel.com and enlighten34.com.
She joins a list of more than a dozen top artists who have recorded public service announcements for the Challenge, including Martina McBride, Amy Grant, Donny Osmond, Lila McCann and many others.

The Pink Ribbon Challenge is unique among fund-raising efforts. That money is distributed by the National Breast Cancer Foundation to hospitals, clinics and mobile mammography units across the country to fund free mammograms for underserved women. Ed Crawford & the Mystery Men Quartet To Host 2nd Annual Smokey Mountain Getaway
GALLATIN, Tenn. – Ed Crawford & the Mystery Men Quartet will be hosting a special Smokey Mountain getaway next month for fans of the quartet and Southern Gospel music. This is the group’s second annual Smokey Mountain Mystery Men Celebration.Scheduled for the weekend of November 1-3, 2007, the Smokey Mountain Mystery Men Celebration will be a weekend full of Southern Gospel music, weekend devotionals, entertainment by a popular illusionist Steve Varro, and other special events planned in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

2007 NQC Regional Artist Showcase A Tremendous Success
Louisville, KY - The 2007 Regional Artist Showcase took place recently during the National Quartet Convention held in Louisville, KY. Southern Gospel Music’s premier week-long event featured over 190 artists from the United States and abroad. Soloists, duets, trios, traditional quartets, as well as many family groups were enjoyed each day by the thousands attending the event.This year marked the second year the NQC has hosted the Regional Artist Showcase, which began during the 2006 Convention, with 93 artists participating. The Showcases are a part of the Artist Initiative Program, created to allow the NQC officials and attendees to become more familiar with the many music ministries that participate in the annual Convention. The Showcases also create more opportunities for the artists that purchase exhibit space to perform during the six-day event.
Along with hosts, Phil Cross, Tim Lovelace, Tim Skaggs and Dennis Sparks, several nationally recognized recording artists made appearances during the Showcases, including: The Hoppers, The Booth Brothers, Legacy Five, The Talley Trio, The Triumphant Quartet, Greater Vision, The Dixie Echoes and The Kingdom Heirs. Additionally, many other popular performers offered cameo appearances and emcee services throughout the week.
The National Quartet Convention Board of Directors is extremely delighted that the program experienced over a 100 percent increase in 2007, and organizers anticipate an even greater increase at the 2008 Convention, as they expand the Artist Initiative Program. The Hoppers and Canaan Records, who is home to the legendary family group, shared a successful week recently during the National Quartet Convention (NQC) in Louisville, KY. Monday started with the debut ride of the "Hopper Express," which consisted of free golf cart rides to and from Freedom Hall. Each rider was given a commemorative gold coin in celebration of the Hoppers' latest radio single. On Thursday, Kim Hopper was named Favorite Female and Favorite Soprano during the Singing News Fan Awards at a ceremony held in Freedom Hall at the Kentucky Fair and Expo Center. Kim was awarded the prestigious honors by fans and readers of the Singing News magazine.
The legendary Hoppers continued their winning streak on Friday during NQC. Claude, Connie, Dean, Kim and Michael took home Group of the Year, Album of the Year (The Ride), Male Vocalist of the Year (Dean Hopper), Female Vocalist of the Year (Kim Hopper) and the J.D. Sumner Living Legend Award (Claude Hopper) during SGN Scoops' Diamond Awards. Earlier that day, the group performed during the daily chapel service to a packed audience with overwhelming response. Later in the evening on main stage, they sang "I'm Just Waiting For My Ride" complete with video showcasing the writer Ronnie Hinson. The crowd awarded the Hoppers with a standing ovation.
Saturday proved to be a memorable day for each of the Hoppers, but especially Claude. In celebration of the family's 50 years of ministry, the original Hopper Brothers and Connie made an appearance during an afternoon showcase. The group performed songs from past to present. Canaan Records presented the family with a statue representing Jesus washing His disciple's feet.
NQC 2007 was the first National Quartet Convention for Canaan Records since their rebirth earlier this year. Attendees were invited to pick up Canaan's release, Canaan Revisited and t-shirts that read "Canaan's Back."

Song Garden Music Group: Home of Fan Favorites
For the second year in a row, Song Garden Music Group has been home to the Horizon Group winners of the Singing News Fan Awards during NQC in Louisville, KY. The LeFevre Quartet won the award in 2006 and they have consistently been one of the fastest rising groups since winning the award. This year was no exception as Song Garden Recording artist Paid In Full took home the fan voted, Horizon Group Award. Many of you are aware that our friend Danny Funderburk had open heart surgery on June 11, 2007. Danny came through the surgery great and he is doing well in his recovery. He is looking forward to getting back on the road and doing what God has called him to do, however, the doctors have cautioned him that when he is released to travel again he will need to keep a much lighter schedule until his body completely heals. We are praising the Lord for his guiding hand and for being an ever present help in the time of need.When Danny found out that he would need heart bypass surgery his son Jason immediately started to cancel concert dates that Danny had booked. Without concert dates that left Danny without any income and now all the medical bills are starting to come in. After much prayer we decided to let the fans and friends of Danny know of this need. As you can imagine Danny was uncomfortable with what God had laid on our hearts to do, but he was grateful for any help.
We have started a Danny Funderburk Benefit Fund and we are trying to raise money to pay off all of Danny’s medical bills. There is no doubt that God can and that He will supply this large need. At this time the bills are over $100,000.00 and there are more bills on the way. God has laid it on our hearts to let you know of this need. If Danny’s ministry has been a blessing to you in the past this is your chance to be a blessing to him. Every dime of this money will be used to pay off the medical bills and the account will be controlled by Danny. Please pray about what you can give. We need your help!
