According to Christ Church representatives, the service, which begins at 1:00pm, will be aired live via streaming video on the Christ Church website, http://www.christchurchnashville.com . The legendary pianist died suddenly on Wednesday, February 22, while performing onboard the Bill Gaither Homecoming Carribean cruise. The Cerces Receive Christian Music Presenters Endorsement
CMP was founded last year by Dr. Randall Bayne and Rev. Roy Hayes – both ordained ministers – each with more than 20 years of professional music experience. The organization endorses groups and artists in over 20 recognized Christian musical styles.
Groups and artists begin the process by presenting CMP with churches, pastors and concert promoters they have recently performed for, so that extensive questionnaires can be filled out by them, serving as references for the artists. Information is supplied by the artists so they can be evaluated as to the denominations and church groups that the artists are equipped and prepared to effectively minister to, as well as involved information as to the artists' travel patterns, repertoire, financial requirements and other matters.
Based on the evaluation of this preliminary information, some of the artists are invited to a private meeting with CMP evaluators, who travel to major U.S. cities to get to know them, and to interview them in depth. Then, the groups and artists perform a private 30 minute concert for the evaluators as part of the evaluation process.
Performers are ultimately evaluated in regard to CMP's three ministry values and criteria - Musical Excellence, Ministry Readiness, and Spiritual Integrity. To date, about 160 Christian artists/groups have been endorsed by CMP, including Harlan Burton, The Pfeifers, and Young Harmony.
Cliff Cerce, group manager, said, "We are thrilled to be associated with this wonderful organization. We all connected with Dr. Bayne and Rev. Hayes immediately and were impressed with their desire to help artists and presenters alike through their organization. We look forward to a long and profitable association with CMP in the days ahead."
Information on The Cerces' ministry will be added to the CMP website in the coming days. CMP offers free access to pastors and presenters with information regarding their endorsed artists at http://www.christianmusicpresenters.com.
The Cerces just put the finishing touches on their new project, Treasures - Old and New, last month. The new recording contains 14 songs – seven classic Southern Gospel songs, as well as seven original songs.
The Cerces were recently the recipients of the 2005 Horizon Group of the Year award, presented by the Branson Gospel Singers Songwriters Association (BGSSA). The awards, which are determined by voting among Association members, were presented by the BGSSA at their annual awards ceremony on Sunday night, September 25, 2005 at the beautiful Chateau on the Lake resort in Branson, Missouri.

Funeral services will immediatly follow the visitation. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Gospel Music Trust Fund/Anthony Burger, PO Box 144, Goodlettsville, TN 37070 or visit http://www.gospelmusictrustfund.org.
Survivors include his wife, LuAnn; sons, AJ and Austin; daughter, Lori; parents, Richard and Jean; two brothers, Randy and Clinton. There are family members who were directly related to Burger; however, he also leaves behind many “family” members who have grown to love him, in and through Gospel music. These are his musical family, whom will greatly miss his quiet demeanor, his patient personality and his genuine love for them and the music he was blessed to play for practically his entire life.
Burger was born June 5, 1961, in Cleveland, TN, to Richard and Jean Burger. Burger was just five years old when he became the first student ever to be accepted by the Chattanooga Cadek Conservatory. Playing the piano was more than just a job for Anthony Burger. It was a way of life, as well as a blessing, privilege and a direct gift from God.
When Burger was just eight months old, as he was learning to walk in a walker, one of the wheels of the walker got caught on the furnace grate and the walker turned over, throwing him down on the heater. He sustained third degree burns throughout his legs, face and hands. He had to be carried on a pillow for an entire year, during which time he received three medicated baths a day for the burns. Doctors who treated Burger said he would never be able to move his hands; however, as he stated night after night, “Doctors were wrong!” Not only did God heal his burns, He gave Burger a tremendous gift that was used night after night to glorify the Healer he loved so dearly.
Burger possessed natural God-given talent; however, he also possessed tremendous drive. He practiced day after day, and throughout the years continued to perfect his God-given ability. At the Cadek Conservatory, Burger was exposed to many musical forms, yet Gospel music was his favorite. He dedicated his life to Christ at the age of nine, and served Him each day, bringing glory to his Savior with each song he performed.
As a young teenager, barely 16, he joined one of Gospel music’s most popular quartets, The Kingsmen, and by the age of 17 was nominated as one of the Top Five pianists in Gospel music. In fact, he earned that Award by subscribers of The Singing News Magazine for 10 consecutive years, from 1980 through 1989, before the Award became known as the Anthony Burger Award.
Countless awards, accolades and honors have flowed his way in bunches throughout the past 25 years, in which he devoted his life to Gospel Music. He has traveled nationally and internationally, sharing his unique musical gift in small country churches, sold-out arenas and concert halls night after night. He was thrilled to perform at the White House , as well as several Billy Graham Crusades. Shortly after leaving The Kingsmen and embarking on his own solo career, he began traveling with Gospel music’s legendary Bill Gaither, serving as pianist for the Gaither Vocal Band, the Gaither Trio and the Gaither Homecoming Friends. Most recently, this year Burger was endorsed by Steinway Pianos.
Gospel music was, indeed, a way of life for Burger, but perhaps it could be said that it was more than a way of life - it truly WAS his life. He traveled quite possibly as much or more than any other Gospel musician. His performances exceeded 250 each year, and he loved every moment on the road, on stage, sitting at the piano.
His life could easily be summed up with a quote that Burger himself once stated, “I am a simple man, with a majestic instrument and the power of God behind me.” That’s the life he lived. That’s the life he loved, and that’s the legacy he leaves.

Mark Bishop Cancels Homecoming
To our friends,The Homecoming concerts in Berea, Kentucky have been a part of my life for over twenty years now, twenty-two to be exact. Good folks from all across the country have gathered in Berea and Irvine, Ky. on the third weekend in July for all of my adult life. It has been an annual tradition for many friends and family. Perhaps that is why this announcement is so hard to make.
It is with sadness that I must announce that there will not be a Homecoming concert in Berea, Ky. for the year 2006.
This announcement will no doubt come as a shock to all the folks who annually plan their summer vacations around this event. For that, I apologize.
The decision was a hard one to arrive at. Many, many prayers went up regarding the event. I have sought the wisdom and counsel of people I trust. It has not been a hasty decision but, rather, one that all the circumstances and facts always led back to. There is not one, but several contributing factors that led to this decision. I would like to alleviate anyone’s fears that it might be a health issue for someone in the Bishop family. Everyone is healthy.
Down through the years we have made so many friends and have had so many wonderful memories during these July weekends. I would like to thank some of the folks who have worked so hard down through the years to make this weekend special. First off, thanks to all the former members of The Bishops for all the spirit-filled music, testimony and laughter. Thanks to dad and mom for helping me to continue the event even after the groups retirement. I absolutely have been blessed by the hard work of Lynden Stockard, Steve and Theresa Chrisler, Henry Riddle and Jack Oldham. Since the very beginning, many aunts, uncles and cousins have volunteered their time and energy to help make this event happen. Doug and Norma Martin, Glen, Mike and Teresa Bishop, Loren and Jennifer Bishop, Jr. and Janice Williams are always there.
Down through the years, many of my good friends have also helped me. Steve and Carolyn Perkins, Obie, Cynda and Brandon Jones, Jerry Huntley and many others have worked hard so that others could be blessed.
I absolutely could not have continued this Homecoming weekend were it not for the efforts of ALL these people. The Lord blesses our lives with the kind works of other people and these people have all been a blessing to me.
I sincerely feel sadness for all the folks who look so forward to this weekend every year. It was because of the “Homecoming people” that I continued the concerts even after The Bishops retirement. It’s to you that I want to extend the biggest thanks. There would have been no Homecoming -ever - without you.
Even though the year 2006 will not have a Homecoming, I am continuing to sing and travel more than ever. With the help of Sonlite Records, The Harper Agency and Crown Communications, I am as busy as I have ever been. I have just recently recorded my first live concert video (to be released this spring) and I have also written ten brand new songs for a new album to be released this April. The concert schedule for this year is filling up, so I expect to do quite a bit of traveling again this year. The Lord is truly blessing this music ministry and I hope that you will continue to play a part in all of the wonderful things that God is doing through this music. I hope to see you at a concert real soon.
We appreciate your love and support, your prayers and well-wishes. Perhaps in the future, God will make a way for us to gather together again like we did for the past twenty-two years. Until then, like the old song says… “Thanks for the memories…”
May God continue to bless,
Mark Bishop

Young Harmony Nominated for Song of the Year by GMA

"We just done know what to say. We had no idea we would even be in the running. It was a total surprise. We came home that afternoon with like 80 messages on our machines and the email box was full. We were so humbled," stated Johnathan Bond of Young Harmony.
"Johnathan and Ginger have quickly become one of the most recognized duets in Christian music. The duet was nominated last year for Southern Gospel Album of the Year at the Dove Awards. All nominations are awesome. But, being selected as one of the Top 5 songs in our genre for the year is amazing," said Rick Hendrix. Hendrix handles management for Young Harmony.
"It has been an amazing journey watching this ministry grow. Your looking at a couple that knows about pain and salvation. Johnathan was killed by an 18 wheeler and brought back to life and Ginger survived cancer. They are such an inspiration to my office and this industry. They're the real deal. And God's placing his favor over his people," stated Hendrix.

Spring Hill Worship Launches New Worship Series
Recordings Offer Worship Experiences Across Multiple Denominations from Various Churches Currently Impacting Their CommunitiesBRENTWOOD, Tenn.—February 3rd, 2006—Spring Hill Worship, the worship recording and publishing imprint of Spring Hill Music Group, has just released a new line of worship products this week to stores everywhere. The line, called Echoes Around the World, captures thriving worship experiences taking place regularly at various churches throughout the country.
The Echoes Around the World series launches with six releases from the following congregations: Champions Centre (Tacoma, Wash.); Brownsville Church (Pensacola, Fla.); Second Baptist Church--featuring the eleven eleven band (Houston, Texas); Hope Presbyterian-with Bruce Carroll (Memphis, Tenn.); Eagle Heights Baptist with Timothy Haynes (Oklahoma City, Okla.) and the Fourth Avenue Church of Christ—featuring the Hallal Singers (Franklin, Tenn).
“This is a true sound of worship music with no gimmicks--the sound of what churches actually sound like,” stated Joe Beck, visionary for the Echoes Around the World line. “You can hear the diversity…the true passion of what’s taking place out there.
“I was amazed when I began working with these congregations. Many times, we as an industry can come across as telling the church ‘here’s how to do worship music.’ And while that can have merit, some of these churches are doing a great job already; and they are finding ways to make moving music.
“You look at some of the ‘indie’ artists in the mainstream of music,” continues Beck. “Some of the success stories are artists who were doing what they do, and someone realized, ‘hey, this is good the way it is.’ That’s how this is…this is what these congregations are doing...it’s working in their respective areas, and we believe others in various parts of the world will enjoy it as well!”
A synopsis of what is taking place in these congregations follows:
The Champions Centre is a 5,000-member church based in Tacoma, WA, led by Pastors Kevin and Sheila Gerald, who have led the church by following its mission: "Equipping people to live successful Christian lives." They teach that success doesn't begin with work, family or wealth; but true, lasting and genuine success begins by putting God first in life, starting with Sunday morning. This fresh example of leadership has been transferred to worship pastor Jeri Nicholson. Jeri has developed a vibrant, exciting worship ministry that serves all age levels, from children and youth to corporate worship. This team has birthed a sound of worship that is unique and inspiring to worshipers around the world.
Brownsville Assembly of God is a church living out its destiny by seeking to build a house of possibilities. Having been a leader in the praise and worship movement for years, Brownsville continues to be an inspiring voice among churches in North America and around the world.
Second Baptist Church of Houston is home to the eleven eleven band, who got their name because they provide the worship music for the Sunday service that begins at 11:11 a.m. One of the more unique churches in the country, Second Baptist has a membership of over 40,000 that meet on three different campuses. Pastored by Dr. Ed Young, the church previously birthed the group Caedmon’s Call.
Hope Presbyterian, located just outside Memphis, TN, in the city of Cordova, has grown from 25 people meeting in a restaurant in 1988 to more than 6,000 worshiping in their facility built in 1996. With a worship ministry led by Bruce Carroll, Hope Presbyterian purposefully seeks to create a worship atmosphere so that “…every person, no matter what their church background may be, can connect with the God that loves them and calls them to a deeper relationship with Him.”
Founded in Oklahoma City, OK, in 1994, Eagle Heights Church believes that the church is “a hospital for sinners, not a museum for saints or a nursing home for the complacent.” Eagle Heights Church teaches that there are no spectators on God’s team; every member is to be serving on the field. Timothy Haynes, who has appeared on several of the Spring Hill Worship releases, leads the music team.
Fourth Avenue Church of Christ, of Franklin, TN, a congregation that dates back to 1883, has a long and rich history of a cappella music, a tradition in the Church of Christ denomination. The Hallal Singers are a strong representation of the a cappella worship expressed at this church. Music minister Ken Young, through Hallal Music, is at the forefront of the Church of Christ worship movement, working to both preserve the a cappella heri
