Legendary Team Ronnie Milsap and The Blackwoods Plan a New Gospel Recording Project

The enthusiastic crowd went wild as Milsap crooned the first notes of Red Foley’s “Peace in the Valley,” backed by the perfect harmony of The Blackwoods. The two legendary names roused the crowd with the energetic spiritual “Let Me Live in the Light of His Love.”
In a surprise announcement, Ronnie Milsap left his piano and presented his dear friends with a plaque that he had personally ordered. Inscribed on the beautiful piece are the words: “In appreciation of THE BLACKWOOD SINGERS for your support and friendship. I LOVE YOU! Ronnie Milsap, August 26, 2005.” As he spoke, he addressed Ron Blackwood, co-owner and manager of the group, saying “Ron, we’re gonna do that Gospel album together.” The capacity crowd showed excitement and support for the idea with thunderous applause.
The relationship between the Blackwoods and Ronnie Milsap goes back many years. In the 1970’s their tour buses crossed paths at numerous venues across the United States. The Blackwood Singers were well known not only in the Gospel circuit, but were among the first cross-over stars of country music as well, playing every State Fair in the nation. A mega-star in country music, Milsap cherished the harmony and relationship he shared with his musical friends.
It was Milsap who initiated the process to reunite on stage last Friday. The Blackwoods perform full time in the Blackwood Brothers Breakfast Show at the Black Bear Jamboree Theater in Pigeon Forge. However, every time Milsap visits Pigeon Forge, he calls Ron Blackwood to invite the group to join him for at least one segment of his show. So, joined on stage by Ron, R.W., Donna, and Shelley Blackwood, Terry Kent, and Paul Hyde, the country singer goes Gospel for a couple of songs…and a future album with his friends.
The Blackwood Brother Breakfast Show, The Comedy Barn Theater, Black Bear Jamboree Dinner and Show, and the soon coming Miracle Theater are all presentations of the Fee/Hedrick Family Entertainment Group which is dedicated to family, faith, and fun. Call 865-908-SHOW (7469) for reservations or show information.

An Open Letter From Randall Wilds, SGM FanFair
Dear Friends,I wish to express my deepest gratitude to all who attended the 2005 premier of Southern Gospel Music FanFair. The feedback we have already received has been extremely positive, and I can't thank you enough for your enthusiasm and support of this endeavor. Many are already making plans to be with us next year, which is a great encouragement to us!
Though the audience steadily grew in number as the week progressed, the overall attendance was still disturbingly low for an event of this size. However, I want to go on record stating that we utilized every possible means of advertising to promote this event, both locally and nationally. We were thrilled to have fans represented from 22 states, Canada and Scotland.
I confess... I was disappointed that the crowds were not what I had anticipated. We all were. But I am not discouraged by it! In the words of the legendary Dottie Rambo, "Defeat is one word I'll never use!" So, contrary to some of the negative buzz going around, there WILL be a 2006 Southern Gospel Music FanFair. (Well, unless the rapture takes place before such time!)
I wish to express my sincerest thanks to all the artists who appeared at the premier event. You all were so very kind, generous and easy to work with. Thank you for your cooperation! Most of all, thank you for giving your best! You ARE the best!
Last, but certainly not least... I wish to thank the Southern Gospel Music FanFair Board of Directors, staff and volunteers. Your dedication and labors of love are greatly admired and deeply appreciated. Thank you for going above and beyond the call of duty to ensure a most memorable week for all involved. You are true team players. Some planted the seed, some watered. Now, watch God bring the harvest!
Most of all, I give all the praise to my Lord Jesus Christ. It is an honor to be about my Father's business, and a privilege to labor for the Kingdom of God. Thank you for the gift of music, and for my southern gospel music family!
The atmosphere at Southern Gospel Music FanFair was one of unity and camaraderie among both fans and artists. There were tears and laughter, excitement and solitude, worship and celebration, prayer and singing....lots of singing! There are also testimonies as a result of this year's event. One artist led a waitress to the Lord at a nearby cafe. Another artist led a convention center employee to the Lord. There were several attendees who met Jesus for the first time at FanFair.
That's what I call a "successful" event!
Yours In Christ,
Randall Wilds, CEO

ELKHART, Ind. – Butler Music Group recording artist Sharron Kay King just released the follow-up single to “My Best Friend,” the biggest hit of the singer/songwriters career thus far. “My Best Friend,” the last single from her Butler Music Group debut album reached #50 on the Singing News Top 80 and #31 on the American Christian Music Journal’s Top 50 Southern Gospel Singles and Tracks.
“’One Step at a Time’ is another real winner for Sharron Kay King,” said Chris Unthank of SouthernSpinRadio.com. “We added it right out the box because of the high quality. It’s got a great Emmylou Harris vibe – perfect for our listeners.”

“One Step at a Time” was written by Dee Gaskin and can be found on the Family Music Group July/August 2005 Compilation disc, cut #1. Sharron is preparing now for her sophomore Butler Music Group recording. Sharron will begin recording the new album around November. However, she is still currently looking for songs. McKamey’s Celebrate “The Good News” Reaching # 1

“The Good News” was written by Sheryl Farris, who is the daughter of Peg and Ruben Bean. Sheryl sang with the group until the mid 1980’s when she retired to fulfill her obligations as a minister’s wife. However, the McKameys feel she is still a very important part of their ministry since they’ve recorded fifty-five of her songs, four of which made it all the way to number one!
The McKamey's current single, “I Am Home” is also taken from their Fresh Manna project which released in 2004 on Horizon Records. Jim Stover, Director of Radio Promotion at Crossroads said, “The wonderful song about heaven immediately captured the hearts of deejays and listeners all around the country—it’s ringing the phones and racing up the charts! We’re thrilled about the swift and overwhelming response for this precious song with just the right theme and production values to go the distance.”

The Heralds Welcome Jeff Pearles
The Heralds Ministries, home of the King’s Heralds, is pleased to welcome Jeff Pearles, bass vocalist. The Heralds have the distinction of being the oldest continuous gospel quartet in America, serving the body of Christ since 1927. Having carved out our own niche in the last 78 years, both in the United States and in 50 other countries via recordings, radio, television, and live performances, it is our desire to continue serving the body of Christ until Jesus’ return. The quartet has recorded in 30 languages, sung Gospel music in a variety of styles, and is always looking to share the Love and Grace of Jesus Christ wherever possible.
In 2003, the Heralds went to Africa on two occasions, one in Bulawao, Zimbabwe, and the other in Aba, Nigeria. Don Scroggs, the top tenor, says that on the Zimbabwe trip it was reported that about 15,000 people got saved, with similar results in Nigeria. The power of the Holy Spirit touched so many lives at that time, and the members of the quartet are humbled and privileged to have been a part of that effort to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Jeff says that one goal for the future is to broaden the scope of the Herald’s ministry, and establish a presence in the Southern Gospel community. The Heralds have been featured artists on TBN’s Praise The Lord program, and have shared their music before the Christian Booksellers Association, the National Association of Evangelicals, the National Association of Religious Broadcasters, the Protestant Health and Welfare Association, The Greater Pittsburgh Charismatic Conference, and the Baptist World Alliance. They are currently planning an international tour for 2007 to celebrate 80 years of sharing the gospel in song.
The Heralds have received twenty-three SILVER ANGEL AWARDS® from EXCELLENCE IN MEDIA, including six for Best Male Vocal Group, and fourteen for Best Album. The group also received a GOLD ANGEL AWARD® in recognition for their being the oldest, continuous Gospel Quartet in America.
The Heralds' appreciate the richness of Jeff’s voice, and know that he will bring an added dimension to their ministry, not only vocally, but in his enthusiasm to serve our Savior, Jesus. Jeff’s experience in the Southern Gospel world will enhance the quartet’s ability to serve there, and they hope that he, in turn, will be challenged to grow in his musical and Christian experience as well.
It is an honor and a delight to welcome Jeff Pearles to the Herald’s Ministries, and they look forward to October 20, his first concert as a member of the quartet, and working with him for many years to come.
The quartet is made up of Don Scroggs, first tenor; Joel Borg, lead; Russell Hospedales, baritone; and Jeff Pearles, bass.

National Day of Prayer Launches Song Search for 2006
NASHVILLE, TN—The National Day of Prayer Task Force announces it will conduct a national search for its 2006 song based on the theme, “America, Honor God.” Songs may be submitted through September 26 and will be judged by a panel of music industry professionals. The winning song submission will be recorded in Nashville by Dove-award winning producer Don Koch and incorporated into a National Day Of Prayer music video. It will also used for all activities surrounding the National Day Of Prayer, including Public Service Announcements on major national media. The National Day of Prayer will be observed on Thursday, May 6, 2006. The theme, “America, Honor God!” is based on Bible verse I Samuel 2:30, “Those who honor Me, I will honor.”
Jim Weidmann, Vice Chairman of the National Day Of Prayer Task Force, says, “The National Song Search brings exciting possibilities for the observance of the National Day of Prayer in 2006. Each year, our National Day Of Prayer theme song has been a powerful way to call God’s people to pray for our nation. We trust this year’s song will ultimately remind all of us, ‘America, Honor God!’”
Each year millions of citizens gather to pray for our government, our troops, the media and schools through thousands of observances held in cities large and small around the country. An important element of these prayer events is the National Day Of Prayer theme song, which will be chosen through the National Song Search.
Compositions fitting the “America, Honor God” theme may be submitted through The CR Group of Brentwood, TN. Submissions will be judged only on the quality of the composition, not the vocal performance or production. Songs may be submitted by either first-time writers or by professionals, as long as the song has never been previously released commercially.
For complete details on the National Day Of Prayer National Song Search and instructions on how to submit a song, go to:
http://www.NDPsongsearch.com (this web site goes live on Thursday, August 4)

Old Time Gospel Hour Quartet Announces Personnel and Ministry Changes
The Old Time Gospel Hour Quartet announces today that their quartet will be making some changes. “ First of all “ states Jeff Stanley “Let me put to rest the rumors that we are breaking up. This could not be further from the truth. We are just simply making some changes.”The first changes that will be taking place, is that Robbie Hiner and Jeff Pearles will be leaving the group to pursue other interests. Robbie, as most of you know, is partnered with Nick Bruno in Song Garden Music Group. This is the record company that we are signed with. Robbie feels that he needs to come off of the road in order to spend the time needed to fulfill his duties at the record company. Robbie will still be involved with producing and writing for the group.
Jeff is taking a position as bass singer with the Heralds Quartet. This west coast based group is currently relocating to Bowling Green Ky. This group travels not only across the U.S. but also has a worldwide ministry. This is a great opportunity for Jeff, and we are very excited for him.
The other exciting change for the group is that we will be focusing more on the ministry of The Old Time Gospel Hour, Thomas Road Baptist Church, and Liberty University. Because of the expanding television broadcast of these ministries which will now be reaching approximately 150 million homes, Dr. Jerry Falwell has asked the group if they could be more available to be the featured quartet for these ministries, as well as being available for major events such as Super Conference, Living Christmas Tree, Fourth of July Extravaganza as well as many others. The group will also being doing select dates with Dr. Falwell as he travels the country.
Dr. Falwell states, “I am very excited about the future of the OTGH Quartet. They will once again become a vital part of the ministries here in Lynchburg, as well as being seen on a national level through television. They will still be fulfilling dates on the road as well. I am very happy for Robbie and Jeff as they fulfill God’s will for their lives. Wyatt Wilson and Jeff Stanley are very special to us here, and along with a new tenor and bass, we look forward to them sharing the Love of Christ through their singing ministry.”
The new changes for the quartet will take place around the first of November. We want to thank all of our fans for their continued prayer and support.
We are currently talking with some very exciting people in reference to filling the positions of tenor and bass. The final decisions have not been made, so if you are interested in one of these positions please contact us at 434-525-0099.

Tim Greene Update

The Loft moves to the coastline
BOONE, NC — For the last five years, Tim Greene, award winning songwriter and member of the Greenes, America’s Southern Gospel Trio, has made multiple attempts to sing with his brother, Tony, and sister-in-law TaRanda, only to have to withdraw from the road due to a recurring, debilitating illness. In August 2000, Tim began receiving ongoing treatments for a chronic, life-threatening allergy to aspergillus mold, and has spent most days confined indoors at his home in Boone, NC.
After a serious battle with pneumonia and partial paralysis earlier this year, medical specialists in Dallas strongly recommended that Tim move to a more compatible climate for his type of infirmity. Through a series of rather miraculous events, and an outgrowth of prayer, Tim and his wife, Amy, and his children, Brittany and Brooklyn, found a new home in late May, at Ocean Isle, NC.
“Amazingly, my health has already improved greatly since moving. The salty breeze off the ocean seems to be healing the scar tissue on my lungs. My voice is clearer, and for the first time in years, I have now gone weeks without oxygen or IVs! I am out of my wheelchair, too, though I still hobble a little.”
Tim and Tony have moved their recording studio to Ocean Isle, as well, renaming it “The Ocean Loft.”
“For the first time in ages, I have the stamina to get back into the studio and work on music projects again,” Tim said. “I have over 40 new songs the Lord has given me, and I’m making these available to artists. I really believe the Lord has given me a work to do here in Ocean Isle; and, with 26 years of recording experience, I am pleased to be producing quality albums again.”
The Ocean Loft is now able to provide groups and soloists with custom 56-channel multi-track recordings, promotional services and full distribution and fulfillment.
“Of course, all the Greenes’ future projects will be produced here. I still plan to record with the Greenes, too; however, touring will be more difficult, unless the Lord miraculously delivers me completely from my allergy to mold. You know, that’s entirely possible!”

The Joyaires Complete New Project

"Abundant Grace" features songs written by songwriters Kyla Rowland, Adina Bowman, Steve Benton, Gene Smith, Lynn Waters, Shane Ferrell & group member Debbie Peters. "The title actually came from the fact that we have two "grace" songs on the project." Ernie continues, "I am reminded that God told Paul, I am paraphrasing, "that it is was hard for him to kick against the pricks, but God's grace was and is sufficient"
The first single, "I'm Gonna Live Like He's Alive" was written by new writer, Stephen Phillips. Ernie says, "The first single reminds me of Paul and Silas in jail and at the midnight hour they began to sing and to live like He's alive. That is the way the Joyaires want to be perceived." Radio Promoter, Shane Ferrell of Lighthouse Promotions, says, "This first single from the Joyaires is very different for them musically. It is a fun song radio will love! I listened to the entire project, when I got to this song it put a smile on my face. Radio audiences will be singing along by the time the song is on the last chorus!"
"I'm Gonna Live Like He's Alive" will hit radio on August 5th. The song can be found on a cd single next week available through Lighthouse Promotions. The song will also be on Lighthouse Hits Volume #38. For information call Lighthouse Promotions at 423-357-7785 or the Joyaires at 865-435-6147
