We know, we know..better late than never. It seems as if there are never enough hours in a day to get everything done especially when when you are on the road. For those of you who have ever been on the road for any length of time you know all about highways, hotels and late night pizza!

We just finished a 10 day tour of Texas. We had a great time seeing our friends that we only see once maybe twice a year. We had a wonderful time with Harold Marshall and all of our friends at Lake Country Jubilee where we sang with Gold City and Poet Voices at the performing arts center in Terrell, Texas. We have to admit that in all of our years on the road it had been a while since we had seen fog that thick. It was so thick that you couldn't see 10 feet in front of you!! A major highlight of our tour was when we got to spend time and sing with our former first tenor John Ramsey. John sang in the quartet from 1971-1981. Let me tell you he sounds as good as ever!! We finished our trip in McAllen, Texas and then started the 22 hour drive home.

Many of you have been asking about when we are coming out with a new recording. It is in the works. We are rehearsing and will be going into the studio soon to record an hymns project with the next month or two. It's hard when you have such a limited amount of time home to balance everything out and make sure that everything at home and in the office gets done.

We want to thank everyone who have supported this ministry with your prayers, finances ,bookings etc. during 2007. To the promoters who have booked our group we thank you and look forward to working with you again. To the DJ's thank you for playing our music. Radio is a very important part of what we do. It enables us to be heard by people who may never have the opportunity to hear the quartet in concert, but more importantly it is a great tool to help spread the gospel. To all of the pastors who have hosted the quartet at your church we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Finally, to all the good people who have come out to our concerts we thank you for your support. Without you we could not do what we do. We have felt your prayers and we thank you. 2007 was a year of opportunity and 2008 is shaping up to be a year of even greater opportunity. We will keep you posted as we get the details and things become finalized.

Last but not least, our website is back online. It is not finished yet but at least you can log on and keep up with our comings and goings. If you live on the west coast keep your eye out for us this spring we are finalizing everything right now. After everything has been nailed down, we will post the schedule on our website http://www.theheralds.org.We look forward to seeing everyone on the road. Come out and see us when we are in your area.

How Ordinary Guys Can Pick Up Extraordinary Women

image
Hey everyone, I'm not going to write a long article this month because Cathy (the lady that so graciously keeps up with our website and e-newsletter) is doing special feature for February and Valentines Day this year. Everyone on our mailing list will get it, so I urge you to go to our website http://www.lefevrequartet.com and sign up for our newsletter. The February newsletter will tell how each one of the guys met their spouse and began their lives together. Some of them are pretty entertaining, so I encourage you to check it out.

I do want to take the time to thank our wives and children for their never ending love and support. They make it hard for us to leave, but easy to come home after a long weekend of singing.

I heard someone say that behind every self made man, there is a woman rolling her eyes. That would definately be all of our wives!

So, please sign up for our e-newsletter and find out how all of the guys convinced women way out of their league to date them and eventually marry them.

Well when I think back on the past 12 months since we started this project I see the hand of God without a doubt. He has led us through so many doors, that to the natural eye would seem to be impossible, but with his hand of favor and direction my families life has been ordered. The title to this album really says it all. ONE GOOD REASON, it is my conviction that once we as musician's and or singers loose focus of why we do what we do just BECAUSE we can do it, we have stepped into a place were God is no longer in control. This means we must depend on our strength, talent, gifts, and ability to help us through everyday life not just in ministry. Well quite frankly I do not like that position. You see I have learned in ministry that it is the ANNOINTING that lifts every burden and destroys every yoke.

When Saul needed a change in his Life he called for David to play his music, but this went a lot deeper than just David strumming his harp. What Saul did not understand was it was the Anointing on David that caused the change in his atmosphere not David's talent. This is why every time David left, the spirit Saul was facing always came back and as a result Saul never experienced the total change in his heart he was longing for. You see in order for lives to change we as singers and musicians must keep focus that JESUS truly is the ONE GOOD REASON to do the ministry we do. Whether we are in front of thousands, or just by our self, one who humbles himself and is dependant on the Holy spirit will always get JESUS to show up where ever you need him. My prayer is your spirit be st ired this year knowing you still have still have ONE GOOD REASON to keep taking one step at a time knowing God will be right there with you. May the Lord bless you and keep in all you do.

February Reflections ‘08

It has arrived. Febtober, as my son, Jim, calls it… his own strange commentary on February, St. Louis style. I’ve always heard if you don’t like the weather in St. Louis, wait five minutes…it will change. Just this morning it was a balmy 73 degrees. By noon there was a fall nip in the air. By 3:00 it was snowing to beat the band and by 5:00 it was 17 degrees with wind gusts of 59 mph. My hubby, Bruce, has just been kind enough to point out that it is now 14 with a wind chill factor of 4 below. Thanks. I’d like to find the guy who tacked that concept onto the forecast…as if it won’t be hard enough to haul myself out into tomorrow’s predicted low.

Sitting here now I can hear the eerie wind howling through the big maple and whistling through the fireplace chimney. It vibrates the windows and heaves the doors in and out as if the house is inhaling and exhaling. I hear the house creaking in ways I never have before and I occasionally pick up the faint scent of wood ash left over in the fireplace from Christmas Eve’s fire. (Yes, I know it needs to be cleaned out.)

Ice pelts the windows and makes me very glad to be inside, warm and dry. I ‘m sure we all take controlled temperature for granted these days, but I can recall a time when it wasn’t the case. I can remember as a kid being buried under heavy quilts and coverlets and literally having to push the covers up to turn over. I didn’t envy my dad, stepping out onto the cold linoleum floor at 2:00 a.m. to stoke the old coal furnace. Some mornings were so cold we could scratch an eighth inch of frost off the single pane windows…on the inside. There are just times you feel chilled to the bone and you wonder if you’ll ever get warm.

I began to think about what happens when we’re faced with bitter cold in the physical world, those days like today when the wind is fierce and threatening and it’s all you can do to walk into the wind and keep your balance. You draw your coat around you and zip all the way up to your neck and then you pull that little-used hood over your head. Gloves are no longer a style statement, but a necessity and any pair is better than nothing…even last summer’s gardening gloves. You put your head down and pull yourself against the wind with all your might. It’s hard to catch your breath. Then you seek shelter, even if it’s temporary. You duck into the corner coffee shop or just be glad to hop into your car…anything to escape the wind and the cold. You may draw your mate or your child close to you and huddle together for warmth. At that moment, all that matters is getting warm again any way you can.

My heart has felt that way before. Has yours? Chilled and icy cold from hurts and hardship and you wonder if it will ever warm up again. I’ve felt as if life’s circumstances were literally sucking the air out of my lungs. It’s hard to maintain focus and balance in your life when the winds of adversity blow so hard against you. I’ve wondered at times what purpose it all served.

Maybe God allows those cold, lonely days and storms to suddenly come our way so we will pull our spiritual garments around us and push forward with determination. He wants us to take shelter in Him. Maybe He just wants to draw His child a little closer. I realize it’s hard to think of it that way when you’re knee deep in sleet, but trust me, God has a way of revealing Himself in our lives. We may not understand His methods and you may not see evidence that He’s working, but as the writer said, “When you can’t trace His hand, trust His heart.”
And that advice is good for any month of the year…even Febtober.

It’s All About Perspective

image
I can’t remember every Valentine’s Day Tim and I have celebrated together. I know through the years he has given me flowers, taken me to dinner, candy, chocolates – you know, the usual. Ironically, I clearly remember two years because we spent them without each other. I can remember every detail of Valentine’s Day 1984 – it was the month before we got married. Tim was stationed in Biloxi, Mississippi and I was here in Nashville. He was supposed to come home for a three day weekend, but got in some trouble (big shock) and wasn’t allowed to leave the base. Boy was I scrambling to put the wedding together! The other time was 1991 – he had been deployed to Desert Storm. Funny how I remember the unhappy ones more clearly. It’s all about perspective.

Isn’t it funny how we always seem to remember the bad stuff better? We’ll remember one negative comment a lot faster than we think of the nice things that are said. Phillipians 4:8 says, “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of a good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” If it was so easy to automatically remember the good things, we wouldn’t have been given an instruction that tells us to “think on these things.” It is presented in a way that shows our thought process for the good does not happen by osmosis. It takes an effort to take every thought captive.

I’m happy to say that Tim is long past the days of getting reprimanded for his behavior as a young GI. He began reading a book by John Eldridge called The Wild Heart. It is supposed to be a real good book about being a godly man, husband, etc. I’ve noticed he has been trying to do little things like dry the dishes and fold laundry. He even brought me roses yesterday. I responded with, “What chapter was this?”

Well, I’ve decided that the best way to peace of mind is to “think on these things.” That’s exactly what I plan to do. I thanked Tim for the roses. “Tim, I still expect something good for Valentine’s Day…”

till next time…
Sally

Where Do Broken Hearts Go?

image
To Jesus ... we run to Jesus!!!

I Corinthians 13: 4 - 8 ~ Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.

Throughout the beginning of time human beings have suffered from "Broken Heart Syndrome." I have never figured out why this has not been classified as an illness! Ha ha (or maybe it has) I dunno? Well, just think about it. There is an illness for nearly every single ache and pain in our bodies and Doctors will tell ya, " here, take this, it will make you better." You all know what I'm talking about.

Needless to say there are no drugs, no therapies and no alternative procedures to fix a broken heart. But ... JESUS! Jesus is the ultimate "Handyman" for broken hearts! He is, Doctor Fix It! Jesus can take a broken heart and make it new again. Jesus can take a face heavy with burden and give it a smile! Jesus can do it all.

There is nothing my God can't do ... AMEN!!!

If you are suffering from "Broken Heart Syndrome," give Jesus a chance. He has an amazing way of picking up all the broken pieces and with tender, loving hands, He puts all the broken pieces back together again. No scars either!

So, during this month of Valentine's, sweethearts & roses if you find yourself alone or broken hearted, let Jesus hold you in His arms awhile. He will never hurt you or break your heart! He is faithful! He is your friend! Jesus is Love!

I Corinthians 13:13 ~ And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Remember this: The love Jesus gives ~ surpasses any chocolate fix!

Valentine Blessin's,
Sharron Kay
