The Perrys - May 2003

The Perrys
What a wonderful year this has been so far. We have been in some wonderful concerts and churches and have some God do some great things. I truly believe that Christians are binding together as ONE and are seeking God and His will! That is what this is all about. It's all about serving our Heavenly Father!

A BIG Thank You goes out to these special folks who brought us into their town. Ray Flynn in Myrtle Beach, The Crossmen in KY, Jim Hefner in AL, Peace Haven Baptist Church and so many more! Thank you for believing in our ministry!

Our new album "This is the Day" is completed. The street date is July 1. We should have product in our hands by the end of this month. I love this new album. The songs are incredible and our producer has done a wonderful job with the production. I can't wait for you to hear it!

Please keep us in your prayers as we travel. Please pray that God will protect us and keep us safe! We love all of you and thank God for your friendship!

Also, don't forget about Mom's Day and Loren Harris has a birthday on the 25th!

Until next time,

The Dunaways - May 2003

The Dunaways
Hey Everybody!

We have been working on our project very hard since my last article. It has been slow go, but we are moving toward the finish line!

You can check out the recording diary on our website. There are clips there from our first rough demos to our rough mix studio vocals with some musician pictures as well.

It has been ridiculously busy lately. It seems that way with everybody. But I never want to get too busy to stop what I am doing and give my attention to God on a daily basis. When I fall short of that... I simply fall short of being everything God wants me to be, and I am the one who misses out!

Do me a favor and say a prayer for us right now as you are reading this.. as I have already prayed for all who read these words. I prayed that you would be ALL that God wants you to be, and that you would be blessed and ministered to if you ever come in contact with us through our music or personally.

P.S. Millie and the puppies are doing great. But if I ever mention raising puppies againsomebody slap some sense into me!

Thanks for reading!

Until Next Month!

The New Plainsmen - April 2003

The New Plainsmen
To those of you who actually read this - I do apologize that there has not been a new article for you to read. Also thank you so much for those of you who have responded, left comments or came to me at one of our concerts and told me you do read my article. It does matter!!

Now on to the latest - Yes, we did get our "newer" bus out of the shop. Thanks to mechanic and our personal friend, Tommy Martin, for all your hard, committed work. Also thanks to the Eagle's Nest in Nashville for their time and ideas over the phone. We are not totally in this newer bus yet, however we do hope to be in it in a couple of weeks.

BUS FOR SALE-BUS FOR SALE-did I mention that our other bus is for sale??? Go to our website at http://www.thenewplainsmen.com and check it out. Seriously, if you need a bus or know someone who does, check out our MCI-8 with the rebuilt engine.

New Project - by the time you read this we will have just finished all of the tracks and vocals on our new "untitled" project. This new project contains 13 songs, 5 of which are original. The remaining 8 are songs that you will recognize. This is our fourth project and it will produce our fourth national single. It is our hope to get the first single from the project to radio in the next couple of months. DJ's we do apologize for the long wait. This will be promoted through Kim and Tony Hudgins if they haven't totally given up on us. Ha, Ha!! If anyone would like to pre-order this project, you may do so off our website. I must acknowledge The Crow's from Kaufman, TX. This couple has been such a major blessing to The New Plainsmen Quartet. We certainly thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!

Now, let me say this, "God, please bless America!!" My friends, we must continue to pray for America, our President, our Troops, all of our leaders, our pastors, our families and our churches. Also, please pray for the innocent Iraqis. God help them, I pray! I thank God I live in a country where I can eat what I want and live like I want. I also thank God I live in a country where I also have the freedom to say what I want. So with that being saidI want to express my "Freedom of Speech" and say to the so popular "Southern Hens" SHUT UP!!! There, I said it!! Their comment in London, England just shows me that there are some ignorant people out there. Yes, even those that are rich and famous. The New Plainsmen Quartet sing a lot in the Great State of Texas and believe me, Texans are proud to call The President, a "TEXAN"!! Maybe the "head hen" should stop her cackling and shove 3 or 4 eggs in her big mouth. I just wonder - would they have run their beaks, I mean lips, about the Texas-born President if they were in Dallas, Texas instead of a foreign country? Hello? I don\'t think so. We, and I mean anyone who calls himself or herself "An American", needs to support our President, our Congress and our men and women of the U.S. Military, especially during war time. Look, I'm not for war or for killing people, but I do not want 911 to ever happen again in our Great Country. Okay, I'm off my soapbox!! Just one more thing - Mr. President, myself and each member of The New Plainsmen Quartet DO SUPPORT YOU!! I also know for a fact that the two "Texans" in this quartet are very proud to call you a Great Texan as well as a Great President!!

Thank you all once again for reading this article. My thanks also to The Unthanks and SoGospelNews.com for publishing this and the many other great articles for all of us to read and enjoy.

God Bless America

The Perrys - April 2003

The Perrys
Hello Friends!

What a joy it is to be able to write for SoGospelNews.com! I appreciate all of the SoGospelNews family for their work to expand Southern Gospel Music. Let me tell you...these are great people!

Spring is finally here! The Perrys had a few extra days off in March to spend at home. We spent a lot of time cleaning up outside, mulching planting, mowing, sneezing, coughing. Well, you know. But, we are thankful for health and the time to work outside!

I hope you have picked up your copy of Hits and Hymns Volume 2. It has been a great success. Thank you!

Also, A GREAT BIG THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU, for voting "I Rest My Case" your favorite song on this website. This is a great honor to us! From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU!

Please pray for our country. Our troops. Our President. Our President's team. Please pray that God will continue to bless America! THE LAND THAT I LOVE!!!!!!

Until next time,

The Dunaways - April 2003

The Dunaways
On April one, Lordy Lordy Randall is 40 and I am not far behind him. One wonderful thing about being a Southern Gospel artist that just beats every other genre to peices is that they don't kick you out when you get old or fat or ugly.....OR.....old, fat, and ugly! Now that is awesome! In fact, I think it is kind of in style what do you think? smile

On day two and four of this month we are in Nashville recording tracks.

Millie and one of her pupsWe had some real fun while on the road last month. Our Boston Terrier (one of them) looks as if she could explode any day we have been looking for puppies for quite some time. We just couldn't leave her at home alone so we loaded her up. Now bear in mind that we have country dogs. We don't have leashes and all that stuff, but we found out real quick why we needed one on this trip. (After writing this article we became proud grandparents!)

When we would make a stop of course I would get out with Millie. I just assumed I could keep her by my side as she checked out each new road side stop. Now the Louisiana Welcome Center is a must stop because they all have Community Coffee. So I got my coffee and then got Millie out for a walk. There was a large area to walk her and I was just enjoying my coffee and watching her when all of a sudden she took off toward the interstate. I went running and screaming after the dog yelling at Randall and Lawayne to stop her. I can only imagine the chuckles that were going on in the other vehicles. We did catch her before she made it to the interstate.

But our troubles with Millie were not over!

Later that evening during our concert Millie did not like being left alone one bit! Lashay Bankston from CMP Magazine had come out to the concert that night and afterwards I asked her if she would like to walk out with me to check on Millie. When we opened the door there was no mistaking there had been some action while we were gone. At that time I didn't notice what Lashay had already noticed. But when we were all loaded up and ready to go WE ALL NOTICED! Millie had chewed the wooden blinds up! Randall was fit to be tied. We got through the weekend but I think it is safe to say that The Dunaways won't have a bus dog. We still don't have puppies but we will keep you posted!

On a spiritual note our services have been just incredible but it is just God! We are so thankful to be used to minister to other people what an honor! We have noticed some indications that people are responding to our new single "WIth His Arms Wide Open" We hope that it will continue to minister and be used.

We would like to say a big thank you to our new DJ of the month. WIlliam Combs WBFC of Stanton KY. William is just a great and real person. If you don't know him we highly recommend getting to know him better. We are looking foward to participating in WBFC's homecoming this year. Other DJ's that we have named on our website is Mary Alice Jeffery and Bobby Brignac. They have all been such an encouragement to a new radio ministry.

We would like to say a big thank you to the SGMG for our nomination for New Artist of The Year. We are in a state of shock to say the least and the nomination alone is beyond anything we could have imagined, what an honor. Thank you!

I don't know what will be happening on the day this article is posted but I can imagine that all of us have been through some emotional moments as the war has continued in Iraq. Nobody enjoys war. There have been moments that I have just broken down into sobs myself hurting for the families who have lost loved ones. It is a sad occasion but it is a reality that has been with mankind since the beginning of time. The Bible speaks of many times when God himself has commanded war in times past and has given specific instructions on how to carry it out. War, death, and sorrow are going to be a part of our lives as long as we live on this earth. I hope that every person in our industry will stand for the right thing will do the right thing and show support for our troops who are laying down their lives for our country. We can all look forward to the day when we will go to be with Jesus and he will wipe away every tear from our eyes.

It is at a time like this that God can use of all our ministries to sooth, calm, and minister to people as well as point them to a loving Saviour. Let's take atvantage of it!

Until Next Time
